I knew someone who living in a building in Manhattan. There were some issues with Time Warner a couple years back, and everyone in the building was out for a couple of days... the awesome part is that a Time Warner exec lived in the building, and even he couldn't get them off their asses to fix the damn thing any faster, either.

I went to Bennington College in Vermont, graduated in 2002. Although I probably had some interesting experiences there, I can honestly say my education there amounted to a whole bunch of needlessness, but it was probably the best college I was going to get into given my abysmal high school GPA.

My wife went to Oberlin and loved it.

Wild Wings is awful... Best wings in the Slope by FAR are Dram Shop, but that probably comes as a surprise to no one.

It's south slope, but Eagle Provisions on 5th ave and Prospect is pretty damn awesome. They have over 1000 beers and a lot of European imports that they charge reasonable prices for... you'll find the same items at Whole Foods for 30% more.

I've been going there for years. They are a little grungy, but whenever I think about leaving New York, they are one of the points that keeps me here.

Le Bleu, I know you read this blog, and I think we might be on to something here! You guys should partner with that Park Slope swingers club and local auto insurance companies.

Open up a couple of suites that face 4th ave, and let the swingers do what they do- there will quickly be a massive car accident right outside the hotel.

The hotel will get tons of free publicity, insurance companies will get to raise premiums, and the swingers will get some much needed viability among the community.

Hey Le Bleu, if you're looking for a new marketing person, give me a call. I could come up with ideas like this every day.

I grew up being told no a lot- partly because my folks didn't have a lot of spare money to burn, and partly because they understood I didn't need to have everything under the sun.

This has turned me into a pretty well-reasoned adult. If I can't get what I want, I can weigh if it's something that I actually really funementally need. If it is, I'm going to push or find another way to get what I need. If it isn't, I move the fuck on.

I kinda thought that's how most people were. Instead, I find more often than not other people my age whine and bitch and complain and pout and act like assholes until they get whatever stupid fucking thing it is that they want, even if it A) Creates needless work or B) Take shared resources from other people.

I'm going to start handing out candy and toys on 7th Ave. Take that, Snowflakes.

A friend and I will have "wing day" every few months, where we hit as many spots for wings as possible in a single day. We will meet up at 11 AM on a Sunday, as places are starting to open, and see how many places we can get in before we've had enough... 5 is the high so far.

though we haven't tried Bonnies or 200 5th yet, I have to give Dram Shop on 9th Street the best Buffalo wings in the hood, although they do break my very important 1 Wing = < $1 rule.

(Worst wings in the city is a toss up between Buffalo Wild Wings in the Atlantic Center, and Wing Wagon on Flathbush)

About a year ago I was biking to work behind Microsoft's street-imaging vehicle... I followed it up 16th street for a couple of blocks... I can't wait for that to go live so I can see if they left me in or not.

It's pretty obvious how it works- The Jonas Bros. Phone system is their most recent marketing / money making plan: They were able to purchase some very old telephony equipment from AT&T, the kind where you had to have a human being physically connect your calls.

The Jonas Bros will be the ones connecting the calls.

I don't think anyone is arguing against the quality of the place- the rooms look quite nice. I think the issue is that the hotel is very out of place on 4th Ave. While there is some serious growth potential for this area, by the time it arrives Le Bleu will be pushing ten or twelve years of age, and will be in need of some serious renovations or else that high-end design is going to look cheesy.

Trendy is expensive because everyone wants to be there.... Le Bleu is trying to be trendy in a location where no one wants to be, and charging for it. I'm sure the developers paid a fraction compared to Manhattan for that lot on 4th Ave, but you can't justify $230 a night by having really cool rooms alone.

By the time that 4th Ave does become Trendy, Le Bleu will be past it's prime.

Yeah, the Verrazano was built without paths for foot or bike access... the only day of the year that I'm aware non-motor traffic can cross the bridge is the annual 5-boro bike tour in May.
