You are one of the only people I know who would have demanded to do the next/top level called "BIG Ice." So, nice to know you too. Anyhoo...we'll actually (hopefully) see you over Labor Day weekend. I don't think the prop 8 vote was necessarily indicative of CA vacillating, but as you mentioned, a result of an enormous - and impressive - effort by the opposition. What does anger me is that the outcome of this ruling is being used by those who oppose gay marriage as an affirmation of their beliefs by the justice system. I know, and you know, that the justices were only interpreting the Constitution, but the impact of their ruling carries more weight than just that.

I understand the outrage, but disagree with the target. The outrage should be directed at people - like me - whose focus was primarily on electing Obama and not on getting our friends in California to go to the polls even though it was clear Obama would carry CA. The focus should be directed at getting more people to polls, reducing voter fraud and increasing voter awareness. The leaders of the movement needed to find a way to mobilize this passion before the vote. Getting angry after the fact isn't going to change the outcome. Perhaps it was also a little bit of naiveté about where we were/are on this issue. I honestly didn't think Prop 8 stood a chance. Best case scenario is that the media circus surrounding this decision will propel people to go to the polls next time and take more responsibility when the decision lies in their hands.

But in regard to my post, I do want a day where we can just focus on good news :)

Re: I'm missing 10 states.

boy, that's why i love ya.

Re: The things you learn.

i stand corrected. dinner for breakfast at williams really sucked. mmm, i just realized i miss dodd brunch! and ps. i LOVE your drunk comments.
