A-Players know they are good and wear their numbers/accomplishments on their sleeve.

Look for resumes that talk about metrics and how they brought change to the organization as opposed to rhyming off their job description. You should be able to tell by someone's resume if they over-achieved in their role or just showed up for work everyday.

Re: One Red Question: What should the comp package look like for this early-stage CTO? - Red Canary

The CTO's role is to manage a team of devs to take a product from prototype to market.

Re: One Red Question: What should the comp package look like for this early-stage CTO? - Red Canary

No they will not be heading up the Product Management piece. The team shares a joy in tough challenges and tackles them together. We are very hard working and like to have fun together. The agile mindset permeates our team; everyone is considered an equal. We want smart, confident peers who will be essential in future feature development and who can contribute to our common vision.

UX Architect: A web development ninja who has experience on the server-side as well. Experience with large websites and web-based solutions where you implemented novel front-end designs, usability improvements, GUI metaphor inventions, etc. is required. The ability to quickly prototype solutions using 80/20 rules while developing production solutions in parallel is core.

Re: Senior UI Developer - Ajax Guru - Red Canary

Note from the CEO:

We are building a new service that integrates deep computer science with fresh approaches to user-oriented design. This is an opportunity to create and ship a landmark product.

Our company is a startup, funded by the premier venture firm in Canada, with an experienced entrepreneur (and former VC) at the helm. And we are a company that is obsessed with inventing a great product. We want people who think for themselves, think originally, and who question, question, question. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of craftsmanship: after all, powerful ideas are worthless if not distilled in great work.

If you want to create a serious product, to do truly original work in UI and web design, to make your mark–then we offer that opportunity.
