Ha. So guilty of this. When I ran a Palace show in 1995, I cornered him to ask if he'd play Ohio River Boat Song since my friend and I loved it and it had "special meaning" for us. His (condensed) response: "No. I appreciate it, but I want you to keep that meaning for yourself."
