The big thing to realize is that, yes, it may be anywhere from 7-12 miles depending on the course. But what you don't realize going into it is that there will be a ton of people doing it. There was a wait at most of the obstacles so that provides a nice rest in between the miles. The coolest part of the entire event is that everyone helps you out. There was not a single obstacle that people weren't waiting to help others with. Ok, there was one. It was the electro-shock run, you don't need any help with that. You just have to make it through w/out losing consciousness. I got zapped 3 times during the 50 ft stretch and... wow. Every time, wow. You'll do great, the hockey cardio you've got going for you will help a ton. I did it with my bro-in-law but like Eckles says, do a team. Makes it that much more fun, plus you have someone to talk about it with for weeks to come. You'll become obsessed with it.

Its always good to read about the effects of stress relating to shooting. A good AAR from every body helps classes progress naturally.

I also find it unnerving in these days that people are so complacent in the culture in the US. If 911 didn't affect them directly from New York to the two wars they really don't care.

Our politicians can say the war is over or drawing to a close all they want, apparently no one told our enemies.

The bad part is this is most any big box outdoor sport and hunting outlet. Quite a few gun shops too.

Great article. I try to always tell people that the best caliber is the one that works for you. Glad COWAN is educating the people of the gun. We share a few mutual friends that have taken his classes and they always come t of it impressed.

That was a long read fellas. But well worth it. Thank you Mary for your contribution. Being career military myself (Active duty/National Guard, non infantry, non officer) I can agree with pretty much everything in this article. Give women the chance and they will surprise us.
