The short answer: yes.

Yes, SFMTA or DPT may officially paint 18" beyond the driveway slope ("curb cut"). Decision based on whether there's a loss of parking in the adjacent portion that would be painted red (meaning if a red zone painted outside the curb cut would result in loss of a parking space). If that is the case, they will only paint red WITHIN the curb cut. There's a whole process that homeowner's must submit to/apply for, notwithstanding a $200+ non-refundable application fee and, if accepted, a $200+ fee to have it painted.

the way it is written implies one renter would be considered a lodger, any more than the one would be considered a tenant and afforded associated tenant rights.

Yes, yes it is insane. And no, they aren't weekend DIY warriors. It was a full gut reno done by a pro construction co (one I probably wouldn't recommend, considering), BUT STILL. I think this will be the 3rd Xmas holiday of hammering.

au contraire. i believe they intend to widen the sidewalk and permanently *remove* street parking (new "no parking" areas) along portions of that 4 block perimeter. there was a hearing back in april. To wit: "Laguna Street, west side, from 30 feet south to 25 feet north of Waller Street (7-foot bulb)

Sticker must be affixed to the exterior of the car otherwise one could just swap the permit between vehicles (eg one household sharing one permit between 3 cars).

when did SF take back the responsibility of tree maintenance? I believe private property owners are still responsible (for most street trees, not all), per the city's shirking plan aka Tree Maintenance Transfer Plan implemented a few years ago.

Not moments before the cyclists assembled en masse with cameras waiting to film, I was midway into the pedestrian hatchmarked crosswalk, walking to the park, when a cyclist rode right past me about 1 foot from my face. This happens w cyclists maybe 80% of the time I use that crosswalk.

This reminds me of an npr segment i heard abt a month ago in which the main guest was an author/ researcher/ consultant who assessed true environmental impacts on goods across the board -- from jeans to food -- and had written a directory of sorts that explained the WHY. That last part was what sold me. In my field, where eco-consciousness is the New Black, so many people think, say, bamboo fiber is the end all be all. But it's all bullshit if you actually understand the process from planting to harvesting to spinning to dyeing to weaving to end-product. Anyway, that might be a good complement to the pocketguide "Better World"

Good color palette but those shoes look to have no support in the instep. Like they'd make you appear to have Fred Flintstone feet. Also, excuse a dumb question, but aren't most sneakers vegan? Rubber + fabric + synthetics?
