I haven't taken the plunge yet. I'm currently using the Kindle app for
the iPhone (Australia) as I wanted to test this whole e-book thing
with amazon first.

The wifi transfer (to my iPhone) works seamlessly on my home wireless
network.

By "usb networking" do you mean plugging the Kindle into your
computer's usb port & transferring any downloaded Kindle books that way?

Sorry melvino, I only just saw the rest of your email i.e. the bit about IE8 etc.

I'm on a Mac so I guess it is just me not owning a Kindle that creates thet "problem" (hopefully). Do you own a Kindle & what are your thoughts on it. I'm reading my books on my iPhone through the Kindle app. I'm getting RSI from turning pages though ;)

I will try my luck with this again tonight when I've got a bit of time.

What I have noticed though is that when I last went to my Download
section of Amazon (about 2 days ago), the interface had changed &
downloading to computer didn't exist as an option anymore (Despite the
"Help" window showing this as an option). The only option is "Download
to my Kindle". Since I don't a Kindle yet I am not able to test
whether this would work. I suspect that it won't as I think it
requires the Kindle to be connected to Amazon's Whispernet.

I just have a bad feeling that Amazon are aware of what is going on
here but are treading carefully because of the bad PR over "1984" &
"Animal Farm". That was bad enough but to accuse a customer of
cheating/lying (re addresses etc) is truly dangerous territory.

Hi,
Have successfully followed above instructions & have got several books on my iPhone (Live in Australia) - Thank you very much!
Got a problem with downloading to my computer though & contacted Amazon. Got an email today telling me that my problem is too difficult to resolve via email & I should call them!!?? Have Amazon wised up to this trick & will I lose everything if I ring up?
Has anybody else come across this?
