i remember walking past Sukhbaatar district police station once when i was still in school, still very young, so gotta be around 1989 or 1990, and seeing our school principal's photo up on one their 'shame' boards, for being detained overnight in their 'sobering cells'. man was a shocked, hehe. and he was one together dude at school, would always call out to any kid who's misbehaving during recess by their first and last name and tell them off, and if you got caught skipping class you were done for, he knew everything. he busted me once at the school dance smoking in girl's dressing room, heh, though he was cool about it, just told me it was time to go home.

oh no!
i just watched that movie Khadak, with Altag Urag playing in it. i hope the dudes get better. it's just a flu!! damn!
Khadak is one weird as movie, wish there was a more of a cognitive plot. beautifully shot though.

the new generation better have more understanding of global issues and be more open to new ideas than the present one.

and, god, i do remember those food card days. out in the cold for hours trying to get some sugar and bread. we had to bulk buy bread and freeze them on our balcony so we don't starve.

There were a few instances in the past where the hollywood went for mongolian baddies: The Quest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... - a Van Damme movie with Roger Moore? The main bone breaking baddie was meant to be Mongolian. I've seen that actor continue using the "Mongol" monicker for after the movie onto some cable tv wrestling show. The dude doesn't look anything like a Mongolian, he was a stereotype though, basically a mean blood hungry heap of muscles.

And another one i remember, was in Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle. I was completely caught off guard when the movie started with Angels kicking some remote Mongolian outpost soldiers' asses. It was completely weird.

oh god, i remember those 'sobering' cells. had the privilege of spending a night there once. i was wrongfully accused and arrested, mind you, although, i certainly don't remember being served tea with sugar....

the cartoon at the end of the video is by Tsogtbayar, one of my heroes (because of his awesome stippling technique). he's a strong DP supporter, obviously, and been so since the inception of DP.
