I'm not into tattoos, I enjoy the skin I was born in but I know lots of people love them and see them as an extension of what's important to them - I just think you should consider really carefully as it's with you for life.

I've tried meet and greet parking on previous trips and found it very convenient - especially when you are travelling alone.

I sometimes use sites like couchsurfing or hospitality club to meet up with locals or get their tips - while not necessarily staying with them as I prefer the certainty of a comfortable bed.

Hi Christoffer - I'm planning to walk a leg of the TMB next week including Rifugio Elena. I've booked most of the places to stay bu Rifugio Elena has not replied to my booking request (sent twice). I wondered how you booked or if you just turned up and whether we should be worried. Don't want to arrive after a long walk and find it closed!

Your story made me laugh - when we were in Greece we made a deal for a private boat trip only to find that when we were about to board the agreed price was €5 per person more than we discussed - and had to put it down to a "misunderstanding" although we had a great boat trip.

I would also feel quite uncomfortable about staying in a hotel where under-age girls were being used in prostitution - difficult to know quite what the best thing would be to do to help them out of this situation

What a beautiful complex - there's probably a similar mystery in Catholic tradition around how so many fragments of the holy cross could be found in churches throughout the world
