Are You Crazy? &amp;mdash; A Single Programmer's Blog</title><link>http://blog.teksol.info/2008/10/19/dont-write-tests-are-you-crazy.html#comment-3213883</link><description>&lt;p&gt;I still hold that my untested apps have less bugs than tested apps.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Really.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Testing breeds confidence--- Which is a problem.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I am constantly terrified of breaking my apps. I have to sit and understand a bit of code before I go in blindly and change it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;People who write with tests often feel that they can change things without understanding the way the code works. "Oh, I just read the test."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Seriously, test code is NOT the same as expressing the functionality of the original code. JUST READ THE ORIGINAL CODE.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;If I say to myself "Man, I wish I had a test for this really complicated bit of code"... then I immediately delete it and write clearer code.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Man, I need to blog a whole rant on this.&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">hcatlin</dc:creator><pubDate>Tue, 21 Oct 2008 18:33:19 -0000</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
