It was determined that he set the fire for the insurance money.

Let his ass rot in jail.

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Letters: 'Obama-care' smells like 'assisted suicide'

You have part of it right...I am a liberal, and I'm very proud of that fact. I'm proud of the fact that I care more about people than trying to tear down the president. Why is no one complaining about the money the previous president allotted to the war that is STILL going on in Iraq? Aren't we paying for that too? You may not have a problem killing innocent civilians in a foreign country and having our gov't pay for it, but I do.

Also, latreena, if you see my post directly above yours, it mentions name calling, which is a tactic being used to disrupt town hall meetings, yet in your post, you call me a crazy liberal. That just makes me think that you don't have a logical point to make, so you use name calling to throw your weight around.

I'm sorry that you have to resort to such infantile tactics to cloud the issues. And I hope to never end up needing emergency care from someone like you.

Both you and Trav seem to have lots to say AGAINST Obama's plan. But you have yet to offer a solution. Be proactive! Offer up a solution that will benefit everyone! Speaking out against something without constructive input is just meaningless.

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Letters: 'Obama-care' smells like 'assisted suicide'

I would suggest you read all comments before posting comments like this. I do not have a grasp of this bill and therefore can't make a decision either way. Going to town hall meets is worthless because they devolve into shouting matches. Why can't we have a civil discussion of this issue without yelling, name-calling and cries of socialism and fascism?

It's like being engulfed in a Fox news broadcast! The talking points are all being thrown out it seem without the participants even knowing what those words mean!

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Letters: 'Obama-care' smells like 'assisted suicide'

Are you equating non-citizens with immigrants? Because my husband is not a citizen, yet he is here legally. Would you refuse him treatment because he is a "non-citizen"? I would be willing to bet that he contributes more to this community than you ever have.

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Letters: 'Obama-care' smells like 'assisted suicide'

WOW! Do you pigeonhole much? I believe I read earlier that you work in an ICU. Is the only reason you do this so you can be thanked in english??? Or do you do it because it's a rewarding job knowing that you are helping sick people.

It also bothers me to see those who I assume have less than I do with fancier cars and nicer clothes. But we don't know anything about these people. On the flip side, I work in agriculture and know that some of the people you are referring to are doing jobs that no American would be willing to do. The pay is low and the hours are long, but would we be able to enjoy our bountiful fruits and vegetables without them? Do you realize that these people also pay taxes but are not entitled to reap the benefits of things such as social security?

I don't understand your comment about Union and San Benito.

Do you feel the same way about AIDS patients, since that virus also came from another country? For someone who works in healthcare, I find your comments lacking in compassion. Do you treat patients differently if they have insurance or they don't?

I hope that you are not representative of the majority of the nation's health care workers.

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Letters: 'Obama-care' smells like 'assisted suicide'

To be honest, I don't know how I feel about it. I'm sorry that your assumption is incorrect. I currently have medical insurance provided by my employer. I understand that my insurance (as long as I am employed) will not be affected by Obama's plan. I WOULD have a problem if my health care benefits were taxed to help cover the cost.

Going to town hall meetings where I WANTED to try to get details of the plan was fruitless, since so many people wanted to rant and rave and basically turned the meeting into nothing more than a shouting match. How are we expected to make an informed decision when our elected officials are not given the opportunity to answer questions?

I would welcome a forum where civilized Americans could come together and have a calm and rational discussion of this issue.

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Letters: 'Obama-care' smells like 'assisted suicide'

You didn't seem to mind when the republicans were in control...

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Letters: 'Obama-care' smells like 'assisted suicide'

This is a video from 2006. Really???

How about "cons"....

Seems to fit the mindset of both conservatives and republicans...Wow! A two-fer!

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Resident to Farr: 'Socialism does not work'

Do you even know what socialism is?

Re: HollisterFreelance.com | Letters: 'Obama-care' smells like 'assisted suicide'

Liz,

I find it quite telling that instead of referring to "Dems" and "Republicans", you refer to "Dems" and "Conservatives" I don't remember seeing "conservative" on the ballot underneath John McCain's name.

And how can you say that the democrats are trying to ram it through congress when since they have a majority, it should be easy. My belief is that there are people on both sides of the aisle who are trying to make this the best health care bill for the majority of Americans.

I also think that town hall meetings are a great place to SHARE ideas. Have the protesters not been instructed on how to share? I am sure that if there are people who do not agree with Obama's current plan as written and they get up to speak in a clear normal speaking voice, EVERYONE in that room will listen. As soon as that person raises his/her voice, all their credibility is lost, and no longer will anyone in the audience pay attention to what they are saying.

You are right, Liz. Obama was voted in by US. He is OUR president. Hearing DeMint saying that he wants Obama to fail no matter what shows the direction of the republican party. It's not about the health care plan, it's about Obama. All we heard during the Iraq war was how we had to respect our president and his decisions. Why is Obama not afforded the same courtesy?
