Sometimes there's also an issue of your profile being restricted to friends, and your boss/colleague is a friend. That's come up a few times in Australia and America. Seemingly everyday remarks come under fire, even if no names are given. It's a sad, sad situation when you can't use your social networking site to vent.

At least they ask you to enter an email address. My email address has been attached to more than 1 online bank account in America, and for some odd reason, they refuse to remove it even though I sent many emails to their customer service informing them that I was not Ms xxx xxxx or whoever.

Government funded doesn't always work, especially in countries where there is no freedom of speech *ehem* Malaysia. Over here, media licences are renewed annually, and there have been cases where they're not renewed simply because they didn't toe the line.

It's a laugh reading the papers here. All the articles are, xxx said x xxx xxx. No analysis or hard-hitting journalism, save possibly for some mild investigative journalism.

For that purpose, the freedom loving far rights have moved to online blogging and journalism (much to the chagrin of the ruling party). Some of them is pay-for-access, while others are free. These are 2 extremes where both are equally biased in opposite directions.

I think Rich is right, the need is for unbiased journalism rather than newspapers that don't report anything truly useful for the nation.

Actually, I think that it should be possible for people to replace parts like the headphone jack instead of having the company tell me that there's absolutely no way to fix it. I'd be willing to pay for them to fix it, if they only would, because then I'd get the benefit of continuing to use a device that I enjoyed.

It's probably more logical to assume that I read many reviews on an electronic device before buying it, especially those relating to defects in the device, and weighing out the pros and cos, instead of just buying a device because everyone has it and it looks good.

Normally, it doesn't, unless the new release makes development of new apps incompatible with your current phone (http://technologizer.com/20.... Also, the bone I have to pick with them is more the case that they don't make gadgets to last and can't replace parts.

I'll follow up by saying that I caved in and bought the iPod again in 2006 (whichever gen that was). And honestly, it worked fine. Unfortunately, I'd also had the iRiver just before that which I lost, and the only reason I bought the iPod was because I thought it'd be easier to get tech support for in Malaysia than the iRiver.

It worked fine. Let's say that. But it didn't work as well as I wanted it to, and the sound quality was about as great as the built-in stereo system on a Tata.

Footnote: I lost that iPod too, and now have an Archos. It's big and bulky, but damn I love this thing.

I think even if it were proven, people would likely still use mobile phones for the same reason that people smoke and drink and speed and do all kinds of things that are bad for them.

I totally agree that there's nothing wrong with carrying 2 devices. I'd never use my phone as my mp3 player (sorry, iPhone) or as my camera (sorry, Nokia N series). Only in emergencies. And I hate touch screens for the life of me :| I'm pretty tiny so I have tiny fingers and even then I hit the wrong buttons on a touch screen :|
