Warehousing homeless people in tiny shacks meant for lawnmowers is wrong. Pallet Shelters are smaller than what's legally allowed for prison cells, and prison cells have bathrooms. It's concerning that anyone would attempt to justify placing humans in tiny boxes

this is not true one bit. These shacks are meant for lawnmowers, not humans. They are smaller than what is legally allowed for a jail cell, and jail cells have bathrooms. You cannot justify warehousing humans in tiny boxes, and it's concerning that you even try. I am directly connected to thousands of homeless people in real time. None, not even one approves of living in a tiny box.

Actually, Obama is the first president to have a federal homeless plan that prioritized veterans. Because of Obama, veteran homelessness has decreased significantly.

Trump continues to want to cut the safety net, which will create more homelessness.

The public views homeless people as less than human. You seem bent on tearing this post apart so probably nothing I type her will matter to you. Without recognizing a homeless person's humanity, people will not advocate for more support services. I have a feeling you know this.

My response was just putting it all into perspective since the comment stated the "overwhelming reason" when as humans we don't make eye contact.

I am not saying panhandling is not an issue. It is. One should note that the growing number of panhandlers are not homeless. More and more people are having a hard time making ends meet and resort to begging.

This post is about making people who are often invisible feel human. That's all.

WHAT? Have you been paying attention to what's happening in the world? It's not homeless people walking into schools and places of worship shooting people! It's middle-class white men!

Most homeless people are just trying to survive. They won't harm anyone!

Michael, the link you posted is to a nonprofit that wants you to give all money to them. The post is biased and not completely true.

There are things only money can buy that people need. Plus, you are not "reinforcing their situation."

Are you suggesting homeless people will rob you because you look at them? ENRON! Bernie Madoff! Just two of many examples of rich white men who robbed millions of people. You have a far better chance of getting robbed by a rich white person than you do a homeless person!

That is not true. What happens when you step in an elevator? Most people look at their phones to avoid eye contact. We are humans. Eye contact is uncomfortable with strangers. Now add in homelessness, we look away. Money has nothing to do with it
