My dad was Army, worked at Radar Site at Spangdahlem Air Base. Attended Bitburg High through my senior year, May of ’68. Wasn’t a very good student, my friends and I were too busy parting all the time. I think I drank more beer in the 3 years of High School in Bitburg than I did for the next 10 years back in the states. Best beer in the world. Covered up our drinking from our parents most of the time. The few times we were found out I gave my Step father the excuse that since I was born in Frankfurt that I should be able to drink just like the German kids. He didn’t go for it. Wished I would have buckled down a little more. Looking back, living and going to school on Bitburg Air Base was one of the most memorable times of my life. God, I loved that place.</p>
