So, in fact, your common sense isn't so common sense at all. Further more, Google is increasingly becoming a walled garden and pushing out AOSP so to declare that it is still open source is false and yes there are many sources on this all over the internet. Go look for yourself and tell me how many AOSP components of Google's applications are left.

Re: 6 Ways Uber Is a Danger to Itself, Its Customers and Mass Transit

Regarding the section on public transit and vans cherry picking rides around the city, this has already begun with services like bridj in Boston. http://www.bridj.com

Re: Getting Inside My Head: Google+ Comments are giving me a headache

And I will comment more because I have discus :)

Re: DigiTimes: 12″ Retina MacBook Air in limited production now

I'm still rocking the 2011 MBA so yeah an retina upgrade would be good.

Re: Cybernetic Eyes Cut Down on Exhausting Emotional Labor

So wearing these doesn't give it away that your a douche?

Re: Home's Christmas lights display draws angry letter

Hey Atheists, since it's not a holiday make sure you cover work for all of us celebrators. For example Group A owns access lists for whatever reason. Group A hired new people who don't know processes in place and access list troubleshooting. Group A tells Group B that they think its group Bs problem. Group B knows what the problem is and can fix it but with a combination of work loads and responsibilities can't. Process is stalled until Group B, in the interests of the business fixes the problem. Business happy, everyone's happy. All future problem Group B is called, group A points finger at Group B for related issues. Group B now owns this responsibility.

Why is this a problem? Group B slowly becomes over worked taking on nights, weekends, working all hours all the time. Group A skates and doesn't have to address the real problem. They can't do their job.

I absolutely play dumb in some situations and its because I have no intention on suddenly owning the responsibilities of the other team as well as my own because I have no intention of doing their job too. I will nudge in the right direction though. This exact situation plays out very frequently.

I'd also like to point out that while the person who can do everything might work for small environments with one DC this will never work in service provider networks with many DCs. The network at some point is just too big. Can you imagine one engineer deploying l2/3 networks as well as vm, servers, etc in 10-20 very large DCs? I can't imagine what hell that would be after a while.

In our organization we are divided by Architects, engineers and Operations. The Ops group does all the troubleshooting, fixing and monitoring. Within the Ops groups yes there needs to be better ways to work together instead of mud slinging. The Architects design and the engineers build into production but are then hands off with read only access.

Re: Donglegate: Why Tech Culture Hates Feminists

I have many dongles, Im using one now, and seen many processes forked over the last 15 years. I will never stop using these terms because that is what they are termed.
