I am a little dubious about this because it is used as a sexual term here in Japan. 'Companions' are girls you hire to go on a date with you.

Re: Final Thoughts: Tokyo Game Show Bigger, More Irrelevant Than Ever

As a resident of Japan and an event-goer, I think the real problem with shows like this is that Westerners expects them to be conventions. They aren't. Which is sad because the more you involve the event-goers, the more exciting. But Japanese companies haven't caught on to that yet, and they may not, because Japanese event-goers don't expect anything. The idea seems to be to just enjoy the blinding lights and obnoxious noises, and the cosplay girls in the areas between the actual showcase halls. There is very little for sale. It's good for about an hour, and then you start wondering why you spent 2 hours and several thousand yen getting there.

Re: American Manga: Wired's downloadable mini-comic explains the history of the form

Brng.

Re: Dumbledore pride tees

Extremely weird. Why on Earth would Rowling even bother mentioning he was gay? The question to her was 'will Dumbledore find true love?' 'he is gay' is not an answer. After a decade of living in Japan, I can tell you that the Japanese are NOT ahead of the West technologically, but what most Westerners perceive as advancement is glitz (ie. they are just very good at making things blink in various shades of 'wow'). The Japanese are complete end-users with no idea how to manipulate the world around them.

Mr Jose Miguel Cansado makes a very good point, the Japanse are special in their habits, and this is because they don't expect anyone else but the Japanese to understand Japanese people, culture or ways. While this is certainly not the case, it is an island nation of isolation. Japanese cell-phones don't even work overseas because they work on a completely different protocol; one that the Japanese purposely built to keep non-Japanese cell phone competition OUT of the market.

Finally as for the reasons to why Japanese "mobile phone data services were available and popular in Japan years ago as the rest of us are only now catching up": they are way behind in personal computer technologies and usage. Most Japanese familiies didn't even own a single computer until the early 2000s. Most Japanese over the age of 25 rarely touch the family computer at home. Yes, they may know how to use one, and probably use one at work, but they don't use computers for leisure, like in the West.

Re: HARDCORE JUDAS

Godzilla on a three-wheeler. I'm saying there is no referencing BACK to the actual companies (which there should be). So until then it's hard to say whether these are Japanese companies (which the writer is implying via his anime comments), or Chinese or Korean (which the ads seem to suggest a possibility of them being in the strange ads on the third party page -- which for your information is not a viable source of information as she is merely taking third-party orders to make money for herself). As it stands I'm ALL FOR the links to the companies. Smacks of jealousy? Hardly. Bad posts are bad posts my friend. You need to learn to read.

Re: Idiot Android | found via Google Images under “assignment tokyo”.
