If you have tried other solutions and then restarted your computer that might have caused your issue. This file is not even accessed when the computer starts up, so it would have not caused the black screen. This fix is recognized by microsoft and they even go a step further recommend just deleting the file, I however stay on the safe side and just rename it. This is an outdated file that is a result of upgrading usually.

Favicons are one of the elements that browsers always download and store on the computer and you need to get the browser to delete them and get an updated favicon.

Have you tried clearing your cache or doing a hard refresh? In browsers, such as firefox it's holding down Ctrl + r or Ctrl + f5 and it will do a delete of the cache for the specific website.

Unfortunately, Google base does not allow links within the editor to another page. They are specific for what they will allow in a google product listing. I would setup google base to link directly to your website when people click on your listing. It is alright to have links from Google base products going to the product page on your website. Google base offers two types of base listings, these two types of listing are as follows.

1. A listing on the base website where customers can view the product and checkout on the base website.
2. A listing that links directly to the product page on your website so customers can checkout using your website.

If you put a product link into the Google base feed, Google will create a listing that links customers directly back to your product page. However, Google will only link people back to the Verified Base domain account. So if your website is abcproducts.com and the product link is at at xyzproducts.com, the product listing will not be added to the account and you will get feed errors.

Yea, I agree. Some of the fixes are just people who have no clue how to fix it and so they just take the shot gun approach and hope something fixes it.

The frozen hand tool can also occur if you run out of system memory. So if it's constantly get sick, check your system memory usage in the task manager.

A subdomain is recognized as a separate websites from the main website. So you can submit subdomains or main domains with no problems or issues.

I need to update this article and put in pictures for the optional step, but in order to use pop.thedomain.com, you need to change CNAMES in Godaddy domain manager. Look for pop - pop.secureserver.com - TTL 1 hour and smtp - smtp.secureserver.com - TTL 1 hour.

Change these two Cnames to

pop.gmail.com
smtp.gmail.com

Now by changing pop and smtp for your domain name, you can now access the pop and smtp by using pop.yourdomain.com and smtp.yourdomain.com in programs like outlook. Just remember to set Incoming Server POP3 connection to SSL - Port 995 and Outgoing Server SMTP to SSL - Port 465. Once setup your user name is your email address.

I ran into the same problem when I trying to do favicons. Once I figured out the problem, I made a blog post.

I have seen a lot of wordpress plugins that add favicons. In my opinion, using a plugin when it's just simple copy and paste is a waste of time and another http request.
