Gina has a coupon on her site to fill out and take in.

Re: Captain Nihilist asks, “What’s so bad about calling them ‘webcomics’?”

Say "webcomic" and what comes to most people's mind is a newspaper-style strip online. But when it gets right down to it, "webcomic" is good shorthand for any comic strip or comic book using web distribution no matter how many other outlets it has. It's long and awkward to say "comic book made for print but serialized online first". There's nothing about my comics that take advantage of the web format. It's completely formatted for print, then sized for online posting. The web is merely one method of distribution. An infinite comic that cant be printed in any normal fashion? Yeah, "webcomic" fits in almost every sense.

At conventions (almost exclusively anime conventions) I'll say I have a webcomic and hear "Ooh, webcomics. I love webcomics." But if I say I have "a comic"... not so much. I've accepted the fact that it's easier to call it a webcomic. I've stopped caring about what term is correct and go with the one that's easily recognizable. I do like using the pompous "online graphic novel" description simply because it gets up people's noses. I really don't care if "webcomic" has a negative connotation. Semantic bullshit has been getting under my skin lately but I've shrugged it off and gone back into fuckit mode. Life is short. Art is long.

Back to making sequential art to post online and print.
