Oh, and if you don't mind me answering Maureen for you, the purple cauliflower totally does stay purple! Mix it with regular white and it will dye the regular stuff, too. So fun.

Re: Giveaway! My mother taught classes on this back in the early seventies. I haven't seen anything like that since then! So funny, thanks for the memories. I'm excited about seeing my girls pick cherry tomatoes. The plant is getting nice thick stems and I can almost taste the juiciness now!

Re: It’s getting closer…

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!

Re: Giveaway! There's really nothing like being able to create something exactly the way you want it, in your colors, your patterns, your choice of fabric. Thanks for a chance to win what looks to be a marvelous book.

Re: I’m now the steward of my family’s button stash!

Those are so amazing/beautiful/cute/precious! But I've got a question for you... I recently bought a wooden chest full of buttons from an estate sale. And, frankly, they stink. As in, have a really really foul smell. I took some out, soaked them in dish soap for hours, dried them one at a time, and... they still smell. Have you ever come across this issue before? I don't think it's the chest itself, and it's not like there was anything except buttons and the old cardstock and threads in there... help?!

Re: Giveaway! I was so proud that I came up with all the measurements myself, and it all worked out (except for the fact that I mixed up the fabrics I was using, but oh well! can't be perfect, right?!) and it's utilitarian, too.

Re: Review: Weekend Sewing

See, looking at that pattern sheet just gives me hives! But her illustrations are so charming, and I do love that trapeze dress. Sigh. Maybe I ought to give it a look, and start from square one. Then, maybe those crazy looking pattern sheets won't send me into a fit.

Re: Feeling Mend-y?

Feel better soon, Diane. I like being able to see if it's aesthetically pleasing. Face it, there are so many craft books out there, it's the style of a publication that usually catches my eye. Project lists are great, and comparisons with other books or a discussion of what level crafter the book is aimed towards are all very helpful when I'm deciding whether or not a book is really worth buying.

Re: Giveaway Time!

Just looking at that cover makes me happy.

Re: Recent Doin’s

SQUEAL! I've come to the rather difficult decision to let all my magazine subs lapse this year, because I simply no longer have the room to store everything. I'm not sure how it works logistically for the publishers themselves, in terms of hacking and copyright and illegal sharing, but I'd love to support online subscriptions as the way of the future. The ability to access articles, photos, instructions, recipes, whatever, at the touch of a button rather than having to physically store and search through issue after issue to find whatever you're looking for seems so valuable and modern to me. I really hope Martha's listening!

Re: CHA Eye Candy

To say I'm a tad envious is putting it mildly... I've been drooling over the CHA show for almost a decade, when I first heard about it on HGTV.
