This has helped me out so much, I really appreciate it!

Re: SWISS ARMY MAN Review: The Best Movie Of The Year So Far

Wow this review is amazing. I never read anyone, writing anywhere, be such a kindred sprint in precisely spelling out my exactly reasons for loving Kurt Vonnegut. He's my favorite author of all time and I too have read his books multiple times. And you summed up his worldview so perfectly, I am just so elated to read someone who sees KV in the same light as I do. Now, I didn't really draw the same comparisons as you did from this movie to his writing, but I definitely see where you are coming from now. All the more reason to see this movie again.

I agree that this movie can be read in many different ways, and upon initial viewing that felt to me like a lack of focus. Yet, in most cases that would make for a muddy, boring movie, this one somehow does absolutely encourage multiple viewings, I actually want to decipher it and feel the broad spectrum of emotions over and over again. I think that is rare. In effect, making a movie not about ONE thing, has lead to a film about everything—everything heartfelt, difficult, off-the-cuff, and raw. So what I think we see here, isn't really ingenuity, but instead, genuineness and authenticity, and one which stays with us and can't be denied; it pokes at places were aren't used to being poked

It is definitely a "cool" movie, and I think some people's bent to dismiss it based on the goofy, twee, crass nature of the trailer isn't unfounded. Still, despite that, I think the trailer also shows this movie is about WAY more, and I have been strongly encouraging people to go see it. Yes, I think we have to be real and admit that it brings you in with a gimmick, but then wears it heart on its sleeve, so to speak. I don't know if the filmmakers knew they were doing this, but they accomplished something more profound anyways, which is wonderful, and kind of exactly what you said in the second paragraph.

And I didn't even go into the magnificent performances by the two leads...goodness.

Re: 6 Clues Your Ankle is Broken, Not Sprained

Hey James, thanks so much for your response, it was very helpful. I guess my major point is, it definitely doesn't sound broken right? It's been 7 months since the injury now and it still aches and swells up occasionally. Could you maybe levy a guess as to how long it may be aching based on everything I mentioned? If not, I understand. Also, any ideas on ankle strengthening exercises would be wonderful if you have the time. Thanks so much.

Re: 6 Clues Your Ankle is Broken, Not Sprained

I have some questions. I missed the bottom rung of a ladder at work (carpentry/light construction) while carrying a heavy piece of wood (so my hands were tied up) and fell off the ladder, twisting my ankle somehow. I think I rolled it when I took the big step to the ground. Heard no sound or popping whatsoever but definitely felt the pain immediately and, I didn't take my shoe off, but could tell it was swelling. I actually was still able to limp around with no shooting pain and continued working, just not putting much weight on it. The ankle was insanely swollen as you can imagine. Now I've sprained my ankle before (the same one actually, the right one) rolling it playing soccer, but this easily swelled up more, hurt more, and was a way larger bruise than I had before so it really scared me. I didn't take anytime off though, and even though my ankle definitely hurt when I put pressure on it and I couldn't really rotate it or twist it at all, I just treated it like a club foot, and even in about a week, was using a ladder again. Anyways, all this sort of leads me to believe that it is a bad sprain or tearing of ligaments and not broken, however, it has been 2 months since this happened and my ankle is still slightly swollen and aches often, almost perpetually. I've noticed my mobility improving more and more still each day, which seems good. Most of the pain is in the hard, flat area below the ankle, whatever part/bone/tendon that is, and is very tender (hurts when pressed), wrapping around to the back of my foot, and in fact is aching even more than when I initially hurt it. This is concerning me, b/c last time my ankle healed in a few weeks and wasn't ever really swollen after that. My parents said that it is still causing me problems b/c I never took some time off (works not strenuous, but I do stand all day), but I never took time off the last time I sprained my ankle either. I still assume I don't have a break, and I am planning on seeing a doctor anyways, but my insurance doesn't kick in until next month, so I had a few questions in the meantime. Are my parents correct, is it still swollen b/c I never stopped working? Could it be still in bad shape b/c this is the same ankle I've sprained before? Could the aching more right now be b/c it is healing perhaps? And I'm a pretty active person, is it possible I could be doing any irreparable damage right now by not staying off the ankle? And finally, is there anything I could do to right now in the current stage to help with the swelling and aching? Would icing it still help? Sorry for the long post, but you've been giving brilliant answers so I thought I's toss it all out there. Thanks so much.

Re: News: Southern Graphics Council 2011 in St. Louis

I went to Philly last year.
