I'm already a Kindle addict, on my second Kindle (the Kindle 2). I'm also an appellate lawyer, and I scan paper transcripts into Adobe Acrobat pdf. I tried porting them to the K2 but it didn't work. If I could read the pages in close-to-full size, I could justify the cost. I wish there was a way of testing it before buying. (Sigh.)

Re: Makin' copies

The USB drive is a good idea. Here's an improvement. Save all documents in Adobe pdf format, and encrypt them. Then save them to the USB drive. No security worries.

Re: Synchronized Audio and Notes with LiveScribe

Using it in trial would be great, but we have to remember that not all courts permit recording. California state courts, for example, require permission from the judge. I've bought two of the pens, one for my nephew and one for my daughter, both students. I love the technology, and I'm desperately trying to justify it for myself. Unfortunately I'm an appellate lawyer, so I would have to talk to myself.
