This will make me sad if it turns out to be the case. I've been holding off on replacing this 2014 27" iMac, and the Studio setup really does seem like it would be my cup of tea. But the prices are just too, too much. The nearly £4000 I'd have to spend is more than I've spent on half the *cars* I've bought in my life, let alone the computers.

My Spotify round-up this year suggests that I mostly enjoy... music from the "Sleep" playlist I kick off using Alexa just before I go to bed. You really should be able to stop songs, playlists or maybe even genres from making it into your history.

I also had a security checker error when I tried to install sentry. It turned out that in between installing Symfony in the first place and trying to install Sentry, there was a patch for a security flaw in Symfony released. I think Composer (by default) won't let you do much until you update to patch the vulnerability. All I needed to do was composer update to update the Symfony components before I installed Sentry.

I didn't get quite the same error as you (though it does say Script security-checker security:check returned with error code 1) but it's similar, so I thought I'd mention it in case it helped anyone else.

I repurposed my old ones by plugging an Echo Dot into them, thus transforming it from my toe-in-the-water Alexa experiment into a really nice voice-controlled stereo speaker pair for my bedroom...

I did a re-watch in my thirties (but a distant memory now!) and I seem to remember deciding that Airwolf was a good series with a bad film, whereas Blue Thunder was a bad series with a good film. But I know what you mean. Sometimes it's definitely best to leave the bloom of nostalgia in place.

This is just plain silly. I mean, I'm assuming that the bike path doesn't sell software or manufacture telephones—part of trademark law is based on market overlap causing confusion among consumers, too, let alone that the logos barely look similar. This is why Apple Records and Apple Computer didn't have much of a problem until Apple Computer started selling music!

I like new technology, but I cling on to cars for a long time because I don't drive very much. My old Mini (15 years old, and I only replaced it this year) came with a 30-pin iPod connector in the glovebox. Until I sold it, I was still using the in-car stereo with the 30-pin Firewire connector plugged into a Firewire-to-USB adapter (otherwise iPhones won't charge), with *that* plugged in to one of these 30-pin to Lightning adapters, with *that* plugged into my iPhone SE...

All because fifteen years ago, the car didn't come with Bluetooth audio, a standard USB connector, *or* a simple 3.5mm aux in jack! The 30-pin connector was hard-wired into the radio, and I could never be bothered to get it changed :D

I wonder how many other people are clinging onto these things for preposterous amounts of time because of an accident of history coupled with personal inertia!

I was very happy when we got the robotic tape backup machine, as my first job was being the boy who had to manually change the old reel-to-reel tapes thirty times during the weekly backups!

On the plus side, the reel-to-reel was an astonishing machine that self-laced its pickup reel using a vacuum system—watching the tape being magically sucked over and apparently wrapping itself around the second reel hub was like watching a magic trick!

Yeah, I have eyes that can't see flicker from good LED bulbs but the bad ones make it seem like everything's moving in 6-Million-Dollar-Man-style slow-motion. It's a real crapshoot ordering them, though there are a few companies now at least emblazoning some of their products with "Flicker-free!" as a clue...

On the other hand, maybe I should just switch back to tungsten bulbs. They had a lot of good features, and I Iive in a draughty old Georgian flat in England, so most of the year the "inefficiency" is just 100%-efficient extra heating :D

This is one of the main points of the European GDPR: to have enough teeth to really hurt big companies if they do things wrong. The harshest fine for the biggest breaches of the regulations is €20m or 4% of company turnover—whichever is *higher*. Because they know that unless they can scare big companies, nothing will change.

I don't know how well it works for old game cartridges, but one trick I find excellent for getting rid of those last bits of gummy residue from old CD cases and things like that is olive oil. Rubbing the residue with a little olive oil soaked into some kitchen towel usually works a treat!

I was glad of the warning, because I use a WiFi/4G cellular hotspot for my MacBook Pro most of the time, and a 5GB+ download in the background *before* the update message appears would have blown through my entire bandwidth limit for the entire in a single day.
