I think that's a good question. I'm currently in Jakarta, Indonesia. I'm here for my work that is to cover the regional launch of a certain product, I am not paid but my expenses are all covered.

My luggage consists 2 DSLR, 2 lenses, a flash and a tripod. No one asked me what was I doing with these items, they probably just assumed I'm a visitor.

Technically what I am doing is "work" too but I don't think it's the type that they are referring to.

There's a reason why all those items exist. For example, perhaps your content that you intend to promote targets desktop users? or desktop OS users?

There are many reasons for each. And where do you get the figure that mobile apps get 100% reach? Not everyone is "install-friendly" and apps have limitations as well.

Not everything requires an app either as it affects operational cost. Creating a Facebook page tab would suffice if it was just information content.

Yes, I do agree that people should "Stop making engagement rates your measurement of success" and reach is more important. I'm just saying that the way you put it is like saying engagement is "not really important".

Sure, it's "not really important" if one doesn't care about how cost effective is the $$$ spent vs reach but an engaging post could leverage the $$$ spent better.

I think the problem here is that you put "engagement" and "reach" as 2 non-relevant things when in actual fact, engagement does affect your reach.

Each comment, like and share are being seen by more people even though they're not fans of your page. They're seen because it's an activity by a fan of your page.

Then it goes back to the other point about fan base. Fan base helps getting more reach via engagement.

It's true that the reach within fan-base is around 1%, some even far less BUT bear in mind that the actual REACH itself is measured not within fans but with non-fans (as what I mentioned earlier).

So should your post be engaging? Yes, it should be as engaging as possible, so that more people respond to it to get better reach. :)

I agree with everything BUT to say that the Facebook Apps suck isn't appropriate.

There are still plenty of users on desktop and Facebook Apps / Page Tabs are helpful for placing information and / or conduction contests or activities.

In short, it's with a PURPOSE.

"more than 50% of users use Facebook on their smartphone." ...... .so? The figure is ambiguous, doesn't even hold water in the argument.

If it's "more than 50%" which means desktop users could be 49% which is still a huge number! Furthermore, users will see posts that leads to app of which they realize they can't see on the browser and they will find it on the page via their desktop / laptop computers.

So do say "stop making Facebook apps" just seems so baseless.

once you view it as a commodity instead of a currency, everything changes.

currency of choice for shady business doesn't make it dangerous. people have been doing business with other forms of trade, whether in goods or commodities.

US govt tax dept intentions doesn't make BTC dangerous.

Can be stolen by hackers is no different as how our cash can be stolen, again not a good point. Good luck having a hacker trying to hack local wallets.

The key is for security purpose, so that doesn't qualify it as a danger.

Haha yeah. Typically if say your mother side speaks one and father side speaks another, you'll already have 2 basics (eg Hokkien, Hakka, Teochew, Hainan, Cantonese, whatever) then add Mandarin.

5 at the age of 18 is nothing spectacular, depending on where you are at.

For example the average Malaysian kid would know 3 major languages and depending on their background, could add 1 or 2 more.

I already spoke 3 language and 1 dialect before I was 12. By the time I was 19 I already have Cantonese (another dialect) into my system.

I think the greatest joke is that Richard is saying that there is negligible performance difference between the HD7750 and the GTX 680 SLI unit.

Just going from a HD 7750 to say something like a HD 7790 or a GTX 650 Ti alone would've shown quite a significant fps boost to begin with.

Just a simple test on Unigine Heaven 4.0 at Full HD 4x AA normal tessalation would've shown it.

I'm guessing it's a GTX 650.

One has to be blind to even say nonsense like the GTX 650's performance is negligible to that of a GTX 680 SLI. The fact is that even a GTX 650's performance pales in comparison to that of even a single GTX 660 Ti / GTX 670, what more the GTX 680 on SLI configuration.

And I guess they haven't even used the GTX 650 on actually graphically demanding games. LOL. It's really misleading, Totally misleading.

Hello, what about those lunch sessions as portrayed in anime? Eg some of them prepared and brought food for self and family (no examples, too many anime with that. Usually the harem types. :P). Others would line up at canteen (eg Angel Beats .......)

How far are those portrayal from reality? Kindly shed some light on this. :D

Awesome article. :) IE6 is the most annoying application to web designers. I said TO, not FOR. meaning each time a design is done, we really have to check with IE6 because some clients are still using IE6 and IE6 is really lousy in conforming to web standards and making it really miserable for web designers for having to spend time fixing it.

Sometimes you just have to go on without encouragement. I for one, have also been thought to be wasting time in my room with the Internet (10 years ago..... or more) but I pushed on.

In my opinion (as one who was a kid before) is that determination and dedication to the things you like is VERY important. That kept me going while the world is not exactly encouraging. :)
