Otherwise, the code worked well and it was easy to follow :)

Re: desert ramblings: Grateful for ... my beanie. Not only do they keep your head warm and disguise bad hair days, I think they look stylish as well. I always get compliments on my beanies!

Re: It’s interesting to observe the difference in the public reaction to the Kyle and Jackie O case vs Matthew Johns…

"As soon even the possibility of desire enters the equation - if she was on a date, if he was famous, if she was drunk or wore a low-cut top or had engaged in casual sex before - we cast doubt upon her claims."

I was very disappointed with a lot of women's reactions with the Matty Johns scandal particularly with my old schoolfriends on Facebook who are my age and were given the same messages in regards to rape and sexual eduation. It scares me that these same women could be sitting on a jury in a rape case. We seem to have gone from 'no means no' to ' to she was asking for it' if she wore alluring clothes, she demonstrated flirtatious behaviour, she went back to the hotel room or if she consented with sex with one person. When did this attitude change?

I do believe the age of the girl in question who was on the Kyle and Jackie O show is more of a factor than Kyle's waning popularity. There does seem to be a gray issue in regards to rape and there needs to be more education and awareness in regards to this both in schools at the grass roots level and the general community. I always thought that most women thought the same way as I did in that if a woman says no at any stage regardless of whether she has her clothes off or the act of sex has started taken place, that the man should stop immediately. It saddens me to think that this is not necessarily the case.

Great post Rachel. You bring up a lot of good points.

Re: Are women’s magazines really that bad?

Hi Rachel!

You can view my portfolio at www.30isthenewblack.com/por.... I remember an obsessive ex boyfriend of mine (Mr Wrong) said to me at the time that he didn't want me to read these magazines because he feared that they would be a bad influence. My response was to dump him and buy another magazine subscription.

I've always loved reading women's magazines and at times I feel that women think that they look down on me because of this. I don't agree with everything that is printed in those magazines but I recognise that the way for change and to move forward is to try and infiltrate those magazines and write articles that I believe will influence the target market in a more positive way.
