Thank you for compiling this list--it's a good start, but there needs to be some refining and holding off of songs that proclaim the resurrection on Good Friday. The Church (i.e., Christians) miss the important silence of Good Friday and Holy Saturday. There's a strong desire to jump right to celebration and miss the deeper spiritual significance that actually makes celebration (when it comes) brighter and more joyous having gone through the valley. Pastorally, when we give a glancing reference to the crucifixion and jump to resurrection on Good Friday we're short circuiting the beautiful mystery of Christ's passion.

The "Reformed Nazarene" blogger is NOT in the least the average Nazarene, but is in line more with Reformed and Fundamentalist sensibilities than anything remotely resembling the Wesleyan spirit/ethos.

As a pastor of a small, older congregation I have been work trying to help paint a bigger picture of the kingdom of God for my people. I have talked about your (Dr. Wright) image of heaven and earth overlapping and the new heavens and new earth...and my congregation just doesn't seem to either get it, or care. How would you articulate how the overlapping and the coming of the new heavens and new earth affect our lives as Christians so that it's not a disconnected "belief"?

Back in the early 1980s there was a song that played on the radio about the Dallas Cowboys. I just found that it is called "Sunday Cowboy" by John Welch Forbes (I think) and it's from Odessa Records. As a wise person noted, right belief is one thing. Believing rightly something all together different. You can have "right belief" and wield it like a sword destroying your "opponents." Or you could "believe rightly" which causes ones actions to be formed and shaped by belief and does not take a king of the hill approach. Let us pursue believing rightly for the sake of the world. "Look how they love one another." Can that be said of us?

Josh, I am very appreciative and excited to see a conversation of some sort and on different levels take place during General Assembly. You might have been speaking in jest (and I don't know you well enough to perhaps pick up your humor) but I think we should be careful when suggestion conversations around a certain type of drink that our tribe has willfully and corporately chosen to abstain from. What we don't need is to give those "concerned" by anything that questions our sectarian stronghold the ability to garner any more support against what emergent is inviting the church to rethink/relearn/reform/unlearn/etc. In some ways we are as Jesus said, being sent out as sheep among the wolves. We should be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

I want to think that all that we do to encourage and foster these conversations in our idiom is helpful, constructive, and inviting.
