Haven't been over for awhile. I look forward to reading backwards :-)
New book too! I like it. Glad everything is going great guns! I have been busy... but you have photos and a book deal... so your day has been much more interesting than mine! :)

Re: :: Knackered

When I am buggered, one eye blinks slower than the other. I love cups of tea, sneaking chocolate chips out of the fridge and my wheat bag. I use it like a cuddly teddy bear. Doesn't really matter what wrong... Of course, the wheat bag is not the best in this heat... Also watching TV on DVD series. Hogan's Heroes. MASH. Grand Designs. Pride and Prejudice...

Hope you can rest up and are feeling all better soon.

Re: :: Those Who Snooze Do Not Lose

Overload of cranky bored kids here. My twin daughters start prep in a couple of weeks. Can't come soon enough!

I am trying to be distracted from this and have been working on my new blog. One thing on my new years list. It's a bit daunting. Don't really know what I am doing but it is still a happy thought to me. It's nice to think that I am starting to write again and I can record all the stuff I've been making and doing.

So glad you are doing the crochet school. I hope to join in at some stage... might be much later - but glad you have it all here for me to find. Learning to crochet is another of the things on my new year list.

Re: :: On Blokes and Banjoes and Boats and Baguettes and Books

What a lovely way to pass the time! Water and books. I haven't read a book for awhile... Hopefully I might finally achieve one or two in 2010, my twin girls are starting school! A 2 year old still at home though - so perhaps wishful thinking.

Keep cool and hydrated! LOVE our air conditioner on a day like today. (40 today, 42 Sun and Mon)... Made some monkey tails (Frozen bananas on a stick coated in choc) with the kids this morning which seem a cool way to cool down!

Re: :: The Year That Was in Pictures :: Hellos and Hurrahs and Goodbyes

Happy New Year to you and yours, Pip.

Have loved reading your blog since I fell across it one random day, while looking at random things. Thanks for including us in your days. Great days and crap days. You have inspired me to look at my world differently. 2010 is going to be a better year. In every way. And one I am determined to try out this blogging thing for myself!

Re: :: Little Fears

I am sorry to hear of Dave's passing. It's so great that you and your family have had someone so special in your lives.

We need to grieve... but it can be hideous when it hits. I find it crashes like waves - everything is fine and then its completely not. I pray you can all surf to the top of it.

When I was little, I was scared (terrified) of the shower scene in Psycho - which I some how caught sight of when I was at a friends party. Not nice for a 5 year old! Also very scared of snakes and the fictional 'old green man' that lived in the broken down house at the back of the school oval.

Re: :: A Week Of Hellos and Happy Things

Hello, hello.

Congratulations on your 3rd year. I have been reading since I followed a link from One Crafty Mumma about a chocolate cake I think back in June! You have been in my favourite's list since. It is always happy to drop by to see what's happening here.

It's nice to know their are so many kindred spirits in the world - when I am shut indoors with my loud 3. (3 girls - we don't seem to have the recipe for boys!).
Ari is one little cutie in these photos! Thanks for sharing little bits of your life with us.

Re: :: Christmas Embroidery :: TeePee Girl

This is super cool! How clever.

For some strange reason it has never occurred to me that I could just draw a picture to stitch if I couldn't find what I wanted! Thanks for the revelation!

Re: :: What Have You Been Making?

I am in the process of tizzying up some little baskets I bought from the Reject shop for $3! Changing the lining and ripped off the horrid flowers on them to replace with ... probably matching fabric yo yo's. They will be little hand bag baskets for my little girls for Christmas. You know, to carry their very important things when we go out. Like a pencil and book, and dummy and such.

Also to keep the kiddies entertained in this extreme weather we are having (unfortunately only beginning), we made on the weekend friendship quilts. My daughter called them that. Really they are just a piece of calico that they drew "zigns" on with permanent markers and then I sewed a piece of fabric on the back... hey presto, Friendship quilts! Happy kids. Everyones a winner!

Re: :: The Wonder Years : Growing Up Crafty....

Art Attack - How about making a giant picture from salt or sugar using a broom!

My kids are watching Mr Maker on the ABC these days - it's an Art Attack wanna be!

Re: :: The Wonder Years : Growing Up Crafty....

This is a comfort post Pip! I loved all these things too. My mum created a useful box for us when we were kids and I started one for my kids - which my husband would probably argue has kind of taken over the office. (A bit of my craft stuff... well a lot of my craft stuff too).
Swiss Family Robinson. I went out and bought the Disney movie on DVD for my kids because all through my childhood I loved it for the treehouse. Me and my siblings would build cubbies all over our farm - Peppercorn trees are the best for them. The people who bought the farm would have been finding them for years!
My other exciting childhood screen moment was getting a mention on Sixer Super Saturday Show back in the 80's. It was a cartoon show and I sent in a entry (late) for a competition to make something like about a motorcyclist (Kevin McGee comes to mind?). I made a helmet out of play dough and sent it in. I made a special box out of a tissue box and shredded tissues to pad it. It was wrapped in brown paper and tied with string. I was so proud! Didn't win but I was famous!
I also loved and still do - Hogan's Heroes. Those guys could make anything out of anything.

Re: :: Remember The Good Ol' Days..?....

Yah for the good and COOL ole days!

Just in case you haven't seen it yet, and knowing you are a fan, check out oneprettything for a Where the Wild Things are Round up. Is Ari still hobbling? Hope that ankle gets better soon. Crutches are horrid on your armpits!
Love your hot and not. I think its funny you should mention the random op shop farter. Obviously this type loiter in $2 shops too!

At present I am refusing to look at this new camera you have mentioned. You posted about the Blackbird, Fly camera and I am hoping that I can force someone to buy that for me for Christmas! Two camera's for Christmas may be a little excessive...

Re: :: A Bit Of Housekeeping...

Love that dress too. My mum recently gave me some Holly Hobbie fabric bits (I think it was from sheets too). Been thinking I would applique it on bags or maybe on some clothes...

I can't believe how much you do. Don't these people see how busy you are? You have so many things going on.
When I grow up I wanna be good at juggling just like you!

Thanks for all the super cool stuff you post for us to see.

My suggestion is you go and sit and put your feet up next to Ari with a nice cuppa and look at something pretty to forget any cranky souls. Like some yarn or fabric - my current happy thought is jars of buttons.

Glenyce

Re: :: Making...

I can't believe how many people in blog world crochet! I have no idea but I must learn. I recently bought a bag of mark down stuff at spotlight for $10 and it must have had about 10 crochet hooks in it! So I have the tools... and I really want some blankets! And I would LOVE to know how to crochet a flower.

I LOVE those wallets. They would be so much more exciting to empty out than my boring black one. I look at books I had when I was a kid in a whole different way now!

What am I working on... I am making felt flower and bird brooches and planning little tote bags as fundraising for our local CFA, felt choc chip cookies for my kids friends birthday and I am making a fabric barn http://uklassinus.blogspot.... for my nephew's birthday. I have just finished sewing up a fabric farm in a bag to go with little farm animals for my daughter's birthday and made fabric mailboxes....

I have been rather busy lately... Now the state of my house ... that's a whole other story! SO basically, I have been making a mess!

Re: :: Three Little Pick-Me-Ups....

My Darling Husband and my Kids (though some times they can have the opposite affect)
A good hot cup of tea
Doing something (anything) creative.

It does really depend on what I need cheering from or for. For example sometimes (or maybe nearly always) a little bit of chocolate can help :)

Re: :: 25 Super Cute Totes To Make....

Thanks for this. I do love a good tote!

I wish I had seen these tutorials before I attempted my first bag years ago when I made a pattern by taking the measurements of a thick dictionary!

Might have to make a few more bags...

Re: :: Blog Etiquette : The Good, The Bad and The (Hopefully Not Too) Ugly....

I read blogs. I seem to have come across a few blogs lately that have had issues with people using photos and tutorials - and claiming them as their own. I feel like I have stumbled across a private argument and I tend not to stay and shy away from checking them again for a while so the conflict might be resolved. I feel like maybe I shouldn't be looking into their lives (blogs) as I do. I can totally understand how these people would be furious about it. Especially if it involves your children.

I love blogs that link to other blogs that's how I got started reading blogs in the first place! I didn't know about the world of creative blogs until before Easter this year. I googled how to make something for my kids at Easter and discovered the first blog. And then I just followed everyones links. I have no idea where I started. I love where I have been though.

As for commenting, I am trying to be better at that. I have read a past post on this blog about starting your own craft blog (which I have book marked for a calmer time) that it is important to leave 'meaningful comments'. I have been a bit slack in that department. Time gets in the way a bit. Also, it is intimidating when people clearly know what they are talking about and I am just getting the hang of it. Even me using the words blog, post, or blogger - I just kind of hope I am putting them in the right part of the sentence. Just a confidence thing. And a lot of the commenters seem to know the blogger personally. I find that a little awkward too.

Reading blogs has giving me so much inspiration and really started the creative wheels turning in my head again. I am more myself again.

Re: :: Truth or Dare or Warts or Spin...

I don't have a blog. It is a future dream. I love to read blogs that are real. I am a stay at home mum and I don't get out much... Don't get to converse with the outside world much. I am generally happy with that. I like to live this quiet existence (socially I mean - the kids are LOUD!) I like to read about what other people are doing, making, seeing, feeling in their world. I feel like I know them. I like that. I don't mind a little bit of sad stuff either.

We have a child with a chronic illness and its comforting to me to know that there are other people in the world with hard stuff going on too. It helps me remember that we are not the only people with troubles. But I guess I do want to escape that too...

We do have a blessed existence.

When I get to writing a blog of my own I want it to be crafty, "look how clever I can be", "look at what me and the kids made or did today" with just a little of the stressful reality thrown in. I want people to see that life can be "normal" in our house even with what is going on. I don't want the stress to be the focus but it seems that some people can't believe that I can be creative and do anything else than be worried about our life. Everyone has different pieces of themselves to make up a whole person. As much as I cry, I laugh. As much as I worry, I can create. I want my kids and husband and me to have a beautiful life. And I want people to see that beauty can happen even if life sucks!

Re: :: How Are We Not Perfect.?...

I love to read about other peoples lives on their blogs. I have 3 daughters 5 and under who seem to be always sick so I LOVE dettol too. I am just learning about how to op shop and thrift now - but my real weakness is $2 shops. I especially love them for buying junk (crafts and stationery) for my kids. They think I am the best because of it. Now I am a mum, I say super cool a lot.

I love to read your blog. I look forward to it. Thanks for updating so regularly. I am forever directing my sister over to look at something. You find the most super cool stuff.
