good points dustin - i always bring up roi in my wanders regarding semtech, great potentials of course and those of us passionate about it need to remember that uninitiated get overwhelmed w/ the what/why/how of leveraging semtech and respond better when as you suggest real world examples along w/ roi can be illustrated :)

you know that's a really good point ken, i've been loving my iphone kindle app - don't tell anyone ;) - it's especially nice to always have something to read since i personally always have my phone w/ me - yesterday running around san francisco for meetings i caught myself looking at certain landmarks and going "hey, in neuromancer "x" happened there & in jack wakes up "y" happened there." shows true scfi geekdom i guess...

lol - true, older and looking for that "perfect" wave - though depending on the crowd, tide and how much time i had i would hang out on the inside sometimes picking off waves that were missed or jumping on when someone had fallen on take-off ;)

good post ryan, btw once a surfer always a surfer even if you're land-locked for awhile (i prefer to surf the cold white stuff currently but if near an ocean w/ a swell will grab a board and go)...

my favorite surf breaks tended to be right point reef breaks, i'd sit way outside on a reef that was popping waiting for the big sets to roll through and usually try to catch the middle or latter wave in the set so the lineup would be washed clean of insiders who were picking off smaller waves and waiting to get in my way - so for the business analogue that lesson would be decide whether your model is one of being all in looking for the big dominate success or the company seeking a whole bunch of small frenetic successes that add up to something big in the end - both are ok, again i always liked focusing on going big ;)

musical guests never sound normal on snl due to bad acoustic - the point is that they're a part of the snl experience - that song itself has a raspy/reverb effect to it anyway but its a good geek/tech song - my boys saw him in concert this summer at msg, they said it was awesome :)

if you use http://twitterfeed.com/ steve and input your friendfeed atom feed it'll post your ff entries into twitter - i use this along w/ some other things dave slusher took the time to research and point out to use friendfeed fulltime but still interact w/ my non-friendfeed followers who are back on twitter - best of both worlds but able to focus more on friendfeed where the conversation is much richer imho...

i also don't like the trend towards assigning versions to big blocks of web innovation but the points you raise regarding the current popularity of aggregation of presence (lifestreaming) data portability and filtering are right on and pre-semantic web - so if you feel the need to bucketize these into web 2.5 so be it - makes it easier to talk about things outside the chamber i suppose ;)

looking at mr. icahn's background though he has shown himself to not be altruistic but rather opportunistic, yes he believes he can take advantage of troubled companies/boards but always for his own personal gain (either financial or egotistical) if his actions also happen to help other shareholders that's just collateral damage (in a positive way for those shareholders of course) - he is not an expert media industry operator though even though he's bullied himself into numerous media related companies before, his expertise is in being a corporate raider, carpetbagger & sleazeball based on his actions and associations throughout his life :)

hey chris, feel ya sort of - i "own" 3 cars but none of them are actually "mine" - for i am a train rider ;)

my wife has a honda pilot, and both my boys have honda cr-v's - sense a trend, we like honda - have found them to be safe, economical and low maintenance so far...

we drive them all over in any conditions including through new england's very snowy winters - plus we schlep around our 110lb lab too...

i love that you share posts like this w/ your wealth of friends - in fact i'd credit you (ok among some others) w/ blurring the line between meatspace and online friendships - your social media/networking chi is strong & always getting stronger, you work very hard at it too - many know of chris brogan & count him as a trusted friend and yet so many haven't met him in person yet but hope to one day (i'm one of them) - that is a gift my friend, one you should be very proud of - so again, enjoy your bday my friend :)
