This will come as a shock, but I haven't caught any of the more recent David Tennant movies yet. I am a bit behind.

I am very excited about this photograph. Also, Alex Kingston is nothing to sneeze at.

You're going to find much sympathy here. We had the same problem last year. We stumbled upon a showroom not far from our new house that not only had designs we liked but thousands of choices of fabric. They are an independent dealer who handle Flexsteel and Rowe primarily as well as some up-and-coming table and chair maker I can't recall. Flexsteel makes a line of recliners that don't look like recliners -- my prerequisite for buying a recliner.

We're much more pleased with that furniture purchase than with the sofa from J.C. Penney's that has not worn well in the two years we've had it. That now sits in the playroom where it can be abused out of sight. It was good enough to show off the old house when we were selling it.

When we moved to Chicago 11 years ago, we picked up a bunch of things from Bassett. The sofa and overstuffed chair wore better than I expected, but the tables and chests did not. I think Bassett is gone now.

I can't imagine who is buying some of this tacky crap we see at mainstream and luxury furniture stores.

T ry being very close to 35, responsible for the livelihoods of two children, a spouse, a dog, and feeling very much like this. I hate that I've essentially gone nowhere in my 11-year career. Making any significant change would require uprooting the family to another part of the country, because the only good jobs in Chicago are in my industry.

None of the four groups acknowledge that humans are fallible and that such fallibility typically manefests itself as greed, ignorance, hate, and ennui. For example, Democrats and Republicans alike believe in the myth of unlimited resources. They keep systems up and throw money at them forgetting, perhaps deliberately, that people game those systems or take more than a reasonable share.

Never did. There's a really good mom-and-pop not far from our house where we buy the occasional donuts. They remind me of Shipley's. Their regular donuts are fluffy like Shipley's anyway.

How is it that the country's more decadent foods come from its southern half? Wouldn't people in that climate be less inclined to eat hamburgers and donuts?

I used to like Dunk's. I did. But I just slowly fell out of like with it. Donuts. Coffee. The whole shebang. Not that I was a fan of their donuts to begin with.
