i actually had this post sitting on my laptop for about 10 min before i actually hit the 'post' button. but thank you very much. i'm really trying to make a change in my life to not beat myself up because i dont fit the media fed super skinny ideal. its actually quite liberating!

i understand what youre saying and i agree, it depends on how the parents handle the situation. i had the chance to go to college, was accepted, but my father refused/coudnt/ whatever to pay my way. and i didnt qualify for much aid because he made too much, but that doesnt mean he had all that money to just give me either.

i, on the other hand, am saving for my daughters college education because i know how much it sucks to get by without an education or to continue it after being married and having kids. and i, by NO means, hand my daughter everything on a silver platter! i just want to make sure i do EVERYTHING in my power to prepare her for life on her own. but that does also include budgeting, smart use of credit, how to save, retirement, etc.

bottom line, i dont think the "spoiled brat" stereotype is fair just because your parents pay for your education. i WISH my parents could have/would have.

p.s. my daughters only 3 so we have time still. :)
