This is not like you and not why I read this blog.

All the money is in the basics! If the focus is not on the basics then there is an untapped market here. And with the amount of improved life that attending to the basics there will be growth in new economies. Think how much is already wasted when we spend so much time waiting, worrying and wallowing in the health care system which cares nothing about our health and only about managing out sickness.

You are talking about a real revolution in the way and the kind of care we receive. Do it! It's awesome. You are totally right. Stop crying about how wrong it is and continue with your ideas.

Re: In general, does health insurance meet your health needs?

today we live in a world where health care is a commodity. health insurance was conceived of and developed to deal with major health problems. including holistic and "alternative" therapies comprises a different model and including it under health insurance is doomed to fail.

these other health-related services would be better met as you describe in your previous post.

Re: The speed of government vs. the speed of today’s culture.

"Our culture now moves too fast" - What does this mean? Isn't this a problem in and of itself? This speeding up of culture is a cause of much dis-ease in society. The Slow food movement was started to directly address this issue. And food is intimately connected to our health. So, I don't see how speeding up government will actually do anything to solve this problem and will probably only aggravate it.

Furthermore, there were many economists who knew that a collapse was imminent. It came as no surprise to many. Canada was for the most part protected from the financial meltdown. And healthcare wise I think that Canadians are better off. Again, Gov 2.0 is not going to solve these problems perhaps only aggravate them.

Re: A little perspective on healthcare in other countries.

If scale was the worst problem of fixing healthcare in the US our situation would be significantly better than it is now

Re: Jay Parkinson + MD + MPH = a doctor in NYC (To put yourself forward as someone good enough to...)

You can also recognize that the negative judgment reveals more about the person making the judgment than about your behavior.
