It was my go to app before I switched to Android. But yeah, you would think these companies would look at what others do and try to duplicate it, yet make it better.

Re: Running GPS Apps: The Highs and Lows

I know what you mean, Alicia. I recently got a TomTom GPS watch and I generally use that. The thing is, I like having my phone on me when I run. I almost feel naked without it--you just never know if something is going to happen. But I couldn't agree with you more about the apps...

Re: NYC Marathon security strengthened for upcoming race

I had the same thought, Jill. Hopefully the word gets out so that runners don't try to bring them in. And then there is the question of what is a hydration pack? I know there are water bladder systems that you wear around your waist. Does that count? I wear a vest think for my two water bottles. Does that count? Lots of cquestions...or maybe I'm overthinking it.

Re: Mac User: Why I Considered Switching To Windows 8

I recently ditched my Mac for Windows 8, and I love it. I'm not familiar with any "awkwardness" when switching between tiles and the desktop.

I also switched from the iPhone to the Galaxy Note 2 and I couldn't imagine going back.

It's funny, six months ago I was the ultimate Apple fanboy, and now I've almost completely dumped the whole thing.

Re: Resurrecting a Blog

Thanks so much, Susan! You never know, you might find a night run near by. I bet the weather is real nice at midnight in the summer up there!

Re: Gibtown Runner: 2009 Midnight Streak 5K

As a morning runner, I think that was the hottest I have run in all year! But I actually enjoyed the running. Not the run, but the running. Does that make sense? With some work, this could be a great race.

Re: Gibtown Runner: 2009 Midnight Streak 5K

I know you're right, but dang, pay attention to what's going on around you. She forgot to put her name in the Name spot I guess. Yes, I could tease her about that but then i will be cut off. Isn't that crazy? I mean, I can deal with potholes when I can see them, but in dark spots?? That actually might be fun!

Keep me updated on your race schedule; perhaps we can do one together. This one looks cool (the 1 hour option of course) but it's in October. http://24thehardway.com/

Hip is fine. I wish that the race announcers would make a point to tell racers to stay at the back of the pack. They don't have a care in the world when they are out there.

The one positive: I now know I can run in the middle of the night while already tired. I was exhausted when I got out there! Ragnar, here we come!

Re: Gibtown Runner: 2009 Midnight Streak 5K

And I forgot about the cookies! I get really stressed when rushed in general. I am usually always early for EVERYTHING. What's up with these guys? Do they not have any runners on the committee? If they had, it seems like it would have been a no brainer to a) include the bibs in the bags and b) had separate lines for the different functions. Really, it was a mess.

Re: Evolution of my Hydration

Can't argue with that!

Re: Evolution of my Hydration

Thanks Hua! I think the ones I have are 8's. You may want to check out something like my number 5, they hybrid big bottle + 2 little bottles. I think that would work for you. During my half-marathon last year, I thought about asking for a fill up but didn't know if they would give me dirty looks. Good to know!

Yeah, I think the hybrid method is the best so far. A big bottle in the back and then wee lil bottles up front. Works great!

Re: Evolution of my Hydration

Love the insulator sleeve. I don't remember seeing that when I purchased mine. of course, I really didn't know what I was looking for either, so I could have over looked it.

If you ever decide to get a belt again, the Velocity is the way to go. It also comes with a little zippered pouch for a couple of Gu's and your car key.

Re: Delta Airlines Pre-flight Turbulence

As a person that is fighting my own Delta dis-service, I feel your pain. I recently got the "I really don't care and there is nothing I am going to do for you" attitude from the rep I talked to on the phone. Followed by an "oh well" e-mail from another tool-box rep.

I hope it all works out for you in the end, and I too, have added Delta to my do not fly list. Here's to them filing bankruptcy soon! ;-)

Re: Ragnar Relay -- Looking for Runners

So, costs:

- $85 is just the registration fee
- Cost of 2 vans / 12. Still gotta figure out when we will pick them up and return them, that kinda thing so I can't tell you how much the cost. Rough estimate $50 each plus all the taxes.
- Food and water By food, I am referring to bars and stuff to snack on during the van ride. I think meals are available at the major exchange points
- Hotel It looks like you have that one taken care of
- Getting to Phoenix

That should be everything, but he should know more as time grows closer.

I will put you in the Strong Maybe column. I am getting a lot of interest (up to 18 or so people now). I figure the fairest way to do it is that the first people to send me $85 are on the team. The others can be alternates in case people drop out. I have to pay the entire $1020 to register the team and they are limiting the field to 100 teams so I want to get registered ASAP.

Maybe I should e-mail you this info in case you miss the comment.
