It will have to be inspected.  I had to change the pump wire to a #12 equipment ground with a twist lock type plug on a GFCI recepticle.  The pool had to be bonded to the motor with a 8AWG solid copper wire.  Alot to do and can end up to be costly if you can't do it yourself!  Don't forget about the fence and/or ladder enclosure. This was a building permit and electrical permit. I have an "Astral" 1.5 hp above ground pool pump that does not have a bonding screw on the exterior of the pump so I am assuming that it is  double insulated .  The inspector is requiring me to connect to Equipment ground of pump circuit.  The outlet is a single recepticle locking configuration type that only has UL wiring connections available and has no place to connect the #8 solid copper wire to.
