And who doesn't like to receive those?!

Re: Two Recent Kid-Craft Tutorials

Love the giant board game - what a clever idea!!!

Re: What if we paid each other?

Oh I very much like this!

Re: A Great Big Bloggy Re-Org

Oh wow - I bow to you! I really really need to do this over at Geek+Nerd...not to mention do a major facelift (my format has been exactly, EXACTLY the same now for, hmmm 4, 5 years?! Eeeek!) I've cleaned out my RSS feed once. I was subscribing to over 500 blogs and had 3,000 unread items upon returning from a vacation. I promptly cleaned house...which was difficult. I get emotional attached to blogs, because behind blogs are bloggers, so cutting them out feels like cutting out a friend.

I freely admit I spend wayyy too much time online. I check my e-mail several times an hour. There are times where in order to get things done, I shut the computer, do three things and reward myself with 15 minutes of internet time. Terrible.

Re: Videoblog#5: Let’s Cook Fava Beans

Wow! I can't believe how enormous they are when they come out of the pod.

And P.S. the little happy dance at the end makes the video :)

Re: What blogging has done for me (and what it can do for you)

First of all, can I just say that I completely forgot that once upon a time there was no Craftypod blog?! That's just craziness.

I don't think I've ever discussed why I started blogging on my blog...a few months of early posts were lost due to computer failure (needed that handy blog back-up tutorial)! I digress! I started Geek+Nerd back in college as an assignment for a computer class. We had to build a website from scratch. I was really inspired by Cut+Paste at the time, and dreamt of having a shop, a zine, etc, etc, so my first design and my domain name for that matter was/is sort of an homage to Cut+Paste.

I've been blogging for ten years now (WOW!). My first blog was a Livejournal and was just filled with awful dramatic musings of my 18 year old life and is now all private (thank goodness). G+N is six years old, and it has brought me such joy, friendships, connections the world over. My blog helped me make my dream of the Holiday Handmade Crusade a reality, and once got me featured on CRAFTzine (because of a certain awesome friend...thank you, that was the thrill of my crafty life!)

Anyways...I would be more articulate about all of this with more coffee. Conclusion. Blogging is great. The end!

Re: Videoblog #4: 7 craft supplies I am no longer allowed to buy

Oh gosh! Hahaha, this cracked me up. I am such a pack rat - that Mr. G+N will often hold up a random piece of trash and skeptically look at me and say "Were you keeping this for something?" One of my biggest vices is bottlecaps...I think when Craftster launched (2003?) I saw a table that had been tiled and grouted with bottlecaps...and I've literally been hoarding bottlecaps ever since. It's a bit bad.

Re: Homemade York Peppermint Patty Recipe

Thanks for sharing - these look scrumptious!

Re: Videoblog #3: Let’s Talk About Snark

I try to follow the "Thumper rule" (from Bambi) when leaving comments on the internet: “If you can’t say something nice ... don’t say nothing at all." I can think of only one time in the history of my blogging career where I chose to publicly rip on something, and (I'd like to think) I did it in a humorous and constructive way (my rant on REAL Simple mag, and local produce).

I've been lucky not to receive too many negative comments over the years, but they do hurt when they show up. One that comes to mind was on a post about my methods for making my Christmas card list - I only send to people who have sent me cards in the past, because my logic is that those are the family members/friends who CARE about the tradition of sending cards. Someone left a comment on that post saying "That's not very nice, that's a selfish/mean-spirited way to give..." and then linked to his business, which was a service that mails out crappy Christmas cards with a standard message, if you provided all of the addresses. Uhhh, dude - you just insulted my way of celebrating the holidays, and now you want me to purchase a service from you? Ummm, no thanks!

Re: Zine Review: Mettazine

Those look so awesome! Or perhaps to Love is a Battlefield doing the Pat Benatar shimmy with a crazy hair bow. I for one, vote for a dramatic entrance.

Re: More than likely, it’ll be the funnest thing I’ve ever done on a stage.

This is hilarious - and you are totally bringing plastic canvas. I am the prime example of why people should do this. I am missing about two and a half years of the first G+N posts from my archives because of a computer crash. I mean, thankfully I did not post as often as I have in recent years, but still! It stinks to not have my first posts, sniffle.

Re: Join the Bronte-Along, won’t you?

Oh that's alright...we can share. I am a busy woman! My multiple celebrity boyfriends include, Colin Firth, Ira Glass and John Cusack circa late 1980's to late 1990's. Don't even get me started on dance celebrity boyfriends...

Re: Join the Bronte-Along, won’t you?

Oh fun! Yes, Austen would be great too! I will never forget watching the BBC Pride and Prejudice in my British Lit class. That was my introduction to one of my celebrity boyfriends, Colin Firth!
