Using a 50 05 65 week SMA could help as well. I would initially get concerned on a break below 107 and then more concerned once it broke the 65 wk MA of 104.

Re: StockTwits 50, September 18 StockTwits 50

Arm Wrestling: Over the Top IBD & StockTwits50 - http://b2l.me/at8twv

Re: Win a Date with ME to Wall Street 2!

A Turtle Trader

Re: Inaugural Tradestreaming podcast

Informative and nice job for your first podcast.

-geckojb on twitter.

Re: Long The Long Bond

Nice update Leigh

-geckojb

Re: 05/28/2010 Market Recap: Rebound Not Dead Yet

I see it but it's not the same. Any reason why you took the page down? Would you consider adding it back?

Re: Breaking News - GLD and EUR Decoupling

Hello. It's been a long time since I posted but still read here. Looking to get back into the posting here. Most of my comments will be focused more on intermediate term direction than the fancy shmancy day trading stuff. I have built a few intermediate term models. I hope to post about those as I see changes to them.

Dominant Mkt Theory holds that stocks including large caps do well when the Naz and the R2K is the dominant index. Most gains happen when the Rel Strgth of those two are dominant. The Naz still is but the R2k is weakening. One of the things I do is compare these indexes against either the NYA or SPX on a point and figure RS chart. I will alert you when the trend has changed.

Re: UNG versus GAZ

I am not following. Why would long term investors be a signal to be cautious on the long side as the site suggests Wouldn't this chart show the opposite since long term investors are typically not right

Re: Dr. Strangebear

Well under normal circumstances volume and price would follow each other, at least early on in a move. The situation we have here is that since the March bottom volume has been decreasing while price has been increasing, typically a sign of waning momentum, or negative divergence. This is why technical indicators have been useless for months. Momentum has taken over. Now we are starting to see volume picking up, typically a sign of supporting a move higher, or confirming indicator. I propose that higher volume on increasing prices is now a bearish sign.

Re: Dr. Strangebear

Tim, an increase in volume at this stage is Bearish. The hallmark of this rally has been on decl volume. An increase in volume here signals that everyone is chasing and throwing in the towel. My 2 cents.

Re: Reputation

I had the privlege last night of having dinner with legend Ralph Acampora. Since I am posting this probably right before a new posting is started I will wait to share my experience. I was so excited to have this opportunity, for me it was like meeting a celebrity. Truly a fantastic guy that has a rare aility to tell stories like no one else. I learned more in the 3 hours we were together than I have over the past year.

Re: All Ye Need Know

I posted this on chart.ly today. 10 yr of QQQQ

http://chart.ly/sn9wes

Re: And So It Begins.......

Really? Come on it's obvious. The class action lawsuits are just starting and these brokers are getting ahead of the curve. It's so obvious where the SEC and FINRA are going to come donw on this. The brokers are doing themselves a favor here.

Re: Government Crack-Up Boom Ahead

You been doing some thinking I see.

You had me really thinking on the part about the bearish sentiment getting overly crowded on selloffs thus corrections not lasting long. That is not something I heard before but makes a ton of sense. The only think I would challenge you on is calling for a 6 month correction. This is rather long and rivals that of 2008. Maybe something half the time would better fit with bearish sentiment getting over-crowded.

I have really enjoyed your work as of late.

Re: Updated Forecasts

Interesting, the forecast is showing that one could stay short the rest of the month based on the series of lower highs. This also shows a potential head and shoulders pattern developiong. I will be interested at the point when the model next forecasts a move above that right shoulder (975) or if it will show a move below.

Re: Video Update

Great stuff. Love Tim but we are all guilty sometimes of this sort of thing. It's a fitted trend line nothing else. If ten people attempted to draw that trend line they would all arrive at different end points and most not even close to each other.

Re: Global Deflation: Unavoidable

No one cares. So while I agree that Fins and RE need to participate in the downside to get the party started I won't be holding my breath waiting for it. And, even if they do start participating on the downside recent history suggests that it could all be reversed in the final 10 minutes of trading on the magical volume pump. So it is what is is until it isn't.
