As you so clearly articulate, it truly is important to look at where one is going while reflecting on where one has been. Onward and upward!
Best,
Gary

Re: Are Your Priorities Screwed Up?

Nothing quite like being a legend in your own mind! Self proclaimed rock-stars do get tiresome and the peter principle does win out - it just takes more time for some than others.

Well said.

Re: Why Video Will Be So Important in 2009

Hey Scott,
Happy New Year. Very effective and plays to the all important point of communicating with people the way THEY want to communicate. In this case, the video demo is way more impressive than the article I read about the product. I believe the way video is used is important and having the video packaged not as a glitzy marketing piece also helps. Nice one.
Gary

Re: Social Media is No Place for Robot Behavior

The worst part is that if you get an auto response for following someone, it comes in as a DM. It seems personal. And when you DM back it says: Person is not following you which means you cannot DM back! Now that is an "impersonally" personal response if ever I saw one that makes me feel oh so special. Like it's cool for your auto assistant to DM me but it is not cool for me to to DM you i.e. it's cool for you to dis me? Now that is what I call a good relationship - not.

Re: Homeless Nation Gives a Digital Place to The Displaced

Chris,
Great cause and cool idea. In times like this we have to help others regardless of our situation. AdAge this week quoted the Edelman Goodpurpose survey that 71% of 6000 surveyed have given the same amount of money or time to a cause. This may change as the economy struggles.

I have been helping a non-profit, www.ChangingThePresent.org, that is all about gifting to one of over 1600 charities. The idea is that rather than give meaningless gifts that people do not want, we can give a charitable gift that can help others e.g. the homeless, the impoverished, the hungry etc.

We really do need to think about those less fortunate than us and help however we can. Homeless Nation is a cool idea. I did wonder like Michael Durwin - would homeless folks have the equipment to make the videos and podcasts. Then I read that through their outreach, they make digital tools accessible for learning, media and communication. Bravo!

Gary

Re: Taking the "Me" Out of Social Media

Could not agree more. With so many options and so much great stuff out there, it is great to be able to not have to always filter the BS to get to the good stuff. The cream rises to the top. Great post. Tx - I will absolutely add Becky to my list which already includes you, CC, Chris, David, Mack and Aaron.

Re: Why I'm Blue

Congrats.
