You write, "By law, the ethics commission is made up of two Democrats, two Republicans and one unaffiliated member." Not true. The Constitution says:

"(b) No more than two members shall be affiliated with the same political party."

In practice, that has meant 2 Rs and 2 Ds, but it does not have to be that way. The goal of Amendment 41 that established the Commission was to ensure there was not partisan "packing," not to ensure party seats.

He doesn't need a reminder. He did not forget. This is a pattern. He is just saying no to reporting. What were the terms of his probation on the federal case?

DA Newsome also seemed to think he had better things to do than enforce Colorado Constitution provisions concerning campaign finance. His attitude in deciding which laws (or which parts of the Constitution) he will enforce, and deciding which laws apply to his personal behavior, is why he lost his office.
