I am working with 4k video footage using daVinci Resolve which as you probably know is processor (and memory) intensive. Trying to figure out a way of maximizing speed without an external storage.
But if I have to go via external storage would you choose a firebolt connection?
Thanks for your time.

Re: Building a GTX 1080 Ti-powered Hackintosh: Installing macOS Sierra step-by-step [Video]

Ugh - they discontinued the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition at B&H. I thought ramping is generally understood as slowed
down.

thanks!
Also when you have the clip in your time line, looks like the default
normal speed is 1000% as oppose of 100% as you mention it. Do you mind
elaborating on that? Thanks!

Re: Walimex Pro Universal Cage Down to $300

Thanks Caleb! It sure paid back to do it this way. The effect is amazing and brings the human aspect into it. I wish After Effects would do a better job at animating this kind of stuff. I wish they would add onionskinning with which you can see the previous frame for reference.
Nevertheless - thanks again for the tips!!!
Cheers!

Re: Private: Animate hand-lettering without actually animating it

I would be very curious to know what method you used to align the strokes with certain features in that video at 0:10 and beyond.
I am having difficulty coming up with a feasible method to do this in After Effects.
I think the problem I have is having the movie clip be a visual guide on where I want those strokes applied, if I am making sense.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!

Re: Private: Animate hand-lettering without actually animating it

Thanks much for the reply!! Yes that makes sense for the masked layers. Thanks!

And it also makes sense for the duplicating layers. I ended up adding a loopOut("cycle") to a subcomp containing a succession of 3 different drawing layers.
It worked, although there's a quirky blank frame introduce by the time remap effect, but I came around it.
Thanks a lot for the help and post!!
cheers!

Re: Private: Animate hand-lettering without actually animating it

Thanks for the update. That makes sense. For aligning the drawing, are you using the 50% opacity trick so you can see how things line up? (more like onionskinning in animation).
Also I would be curious of your final rendering/exporting settings. Like what if you want the animation to loop for 10 seconds. Would you sub-comp, add time remap with looping expressions?
Thanks a lot!

Re: Private: Animate hand-lettering without actually animating it

Thanks much for the tutorial. I am confused a tad at step #6. Not sure by what you mean "6. Duplicate the layer, remove the mask, and align the next drawing with the previous one."
Not sure what mask you mean. At 10:00 where you are talking about layering presets on an image, and if you don't want the one you are applying to overwrite the existing one -- you are mentioning exporting the image in the same folder, etc.

Wouldn't it be easy to simply create a virtual copy of the image with the preset you are at, then applying the newer one? Or will this still modify my existing preset? You need to "freeze" the image in a JPG in order to apply the new preset?

Re: Rethinking Media E-Commerce & WordPress

Thad - any news on this plugin's status! thanks!
