You know, sometimes things don't play the same way on the screen as they do on the page...Joesph Campbell...Power of Myth...(insert other pretentious filmmaker comment here). But we really do appreciate you watching it though.

Re: ‘Did You Know That Wasn’t Me??’ The First Clip From ROGUE ONE!!

So, we did this video based on a comment that AICN talkbacker Jon Connor made on a reshoot article here. He wrote a funny little scene and we took that and adapted it to this video. Thanks Jon, wherever you are. https://youtu.be/y3U02NJ6yC8

Re: STAR WARS!! And it is pretty low, but that can be the reality here. Again, I'm talking local business ads, what we call cut to orders. We had a car dealership, one of the main ones in the area, want to pay us $2k per video to produce 3 - 5 min video car reviews which included everything - pre-pro, a day of shooting, editing, music, delivery. And they wanted it shot in 4k. We decided not to do it. I don't want to scare you, but it can be very difficult in this area to be a freelancer and be able to afford the cost of living here.

Re: Attracting the Right Clients | Muse Storytelling

It's also important to consider where in the country you are and what type of clients you're approaching, because that's going to have a big effect on the rates that potential clients are willing to pay. Theodor touches on this from an international perspective and Kathryn brings up a good point about price vs cost of living. In DC, you can charge $1k/day including gear for a shoot, but that's sometimes only with higher end clients like agencies and large businesses. You may get away with asking for more. If you're shooting spots for local client, you may be lucky to get $1k for an entire ad. So there's never really a set answer, it 's what you can convince clients to pay based on the idea and skill you present to them.

Re: Who's Playing Psylocke In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE? He was pretty excited about it and put us in touch with his production group and AMC digital. They asked us to put together a proposal with story ideas, which we did. Then we never heard back from them. Eight months later, they release the web series. Then Darabont is fired. AMC is awful.

Re: EXPENDABLES 3 launches a ton of Comic Con posters!

I think it's great that they're not only bringing back all these action icons again, but also the Cross Colors clothing line from the 90's. With a little bit of Hypercolor style thrown in there too.

Re: Follow-up to SAG post

I'm not sure people are reading the post here Rick. And you're definitely not reading it with its proper intention. I didn't say that SAG wasn't interested, I said that this contract isn't shocking in it's current iteration based on SAG's other contracts and their responsibility to protect and provide for their members. I also posed the questions, "How would altering the agreement benefit SAG?" and "Why would SAG do that?" These are genuine questions that we're going to need answers to if we want to intelligently approach this situation and present a strong business case to make that change. It sounds like you've been in touch with SAG folks more recently than I have, and as a professional producer and someone who has a decade of experience working within all kinds of union contracts (SAG especially), I'm interested to hear what the answers to these questions are. Are people not able to ask questions anymore? :)

Nor did I say that you should just ignore the SAG talent pool. As I mentioned in my post as option #3 - as a producer, you have every right to approach SAG actors to work on your project. It is their decision to work on it or not. I've had SAG folks work on projects under their real name as opposed to their SAG name. If you bring Brad Pitt to your new media project, trust me, that's going to work itself out one way or another. Sarah Chalke was never Sarah Chalke on The Lonely Island Channel 101 projects, she was Pamela Fenton. It worked as part of the joke and as a shield.

I'm all for leveling the playing field, because I'm not a fan of the walls that the unions have built up in the traditional media space. They're ineffectual for independent producers and they hinder the majority of the members that they are trying to protect. What I'm trying to do is provide people with additional options to what you're talking about that will allow them to continue creating while we have an intelligent conversation to find the strongest case possible to present to SAG. Because you're right, the web (ideally) is about breaking down barriers, but that isn't going to just happen with an entrenched establishment because we think it should.

Re: drew olanoff dot com.

I heart The Crow.
