That person was Greg McBride. Greg had been in the jail for three days screaming for help (witnesses report). The "investigation into Greg's death needs to be reopened. Island County was able to cover up Greg's death at the time as a pre-existing condition...it was actually lack of medical care...and who knows..lack of medical care? food? water? Please people...stay on this...call, write letters.Had Island County done their due dilligence in investigating Greg McBride's death instead of trying to protect the County perhaps Keaton would be alive today.

Re: Crack down on noisy vehicles - Whidbey News Times

As a north end resident...I am thinking that perhaps we could limit the drive time of the noisy vehicles to when the Navy is flying and ticket them during the no flight times as that is the only time I notice the land vehicle noise...just sayin'.....

Re: Langley driver's life saved on Central Whidbey - Whidbey News Times

My personal experience with WGH is otherwise...including the presence of specific written request to do what needs to be done to save the persons life. There was NO "do not resuscitate" order. Please read what I typed. Another point I would like to share is that Medicare does not pay if nothing is being done to save the patient's life. It would be interesting to know What WGH's record is on medicare payments for the elderly that do not make it out of the facility alive.

Re: Langley driver's life saved on Central Whidbey - Whidbey News Times

I beg your pardon...I was not insinuating that this person was turned away....I was insinuatring that there are instances where the patient is kept at Whidbey General to be kept "comfortable" until they expire. Whidbey General is not equipped to care for patients with stroke or cardiac issue. I want to know at what age are patients written off as not worth the effort to save them even though the hospital has clear instructions from the patient that they want to be saved.

Re: Langley driver's life saved on Central Whidbey - Whidbey News Times

My first post did not post after my edit so I shall try again.
I did not know about the 2010 state law. Apparently Whidbey General is not bound by this requirement for patients older than this 77 year old woman...say 80 plus years of age. I stand by my observations based on personal experience with the woman and statements made in the article. As for NASWI....call the commanding officer as to who represents this separate government entity. Case in point....even though Mac McDowell so generously increase the footprint of the Accident Potential Zone far over and above what the Navy identified...it includes areas over government property....the Navy is not bound by Island County land use restrictions...a prime example is the Clover Valley Elementary School now being used for early childhood education and Home Schooling. Emerson (see I am trainable) does not have any influence or authority when it comes to NASWI....she is not NASWI's duly elected representative.

Re: Editor's Column: U.S. Congress finally tracks down its liar - Whidbey News Times

"Bill, I compared both this editorial and your linked reference and found no "plagiarism" as defined by my previous education. The state also views this funding as a so called luxury and makes cuts to the programs regularly. WSU is funded by our tax dollars and the WSU extension program is one that provides great benefit to our communities and our children (not to mention the incredible volunteer staffing). Bottom line is we fund this program through our tax dollars....state and/or county. The WSU program is worthy of our local support. Think 4H, think master gardeners, think forestry services, think beach watchers, think waste warriors, think Island County Fair....think......these are all public educational opportunities that directly impact our quality of life. My vote is to support the program locally by whatever means need be.

Re: Methamphetamine sends Oak Harbor auto dealer to prison - Whidbey News Times

Perhaps there should be a public disclosure ordinance for all of Island county requiring a completed inspection/testing for the presence of methamphetamine residue each time a new owner/resident moves into or out of a space; or at the very least a public disclosure admitting the possibility of contamination exposure as yet unverified. The cost of testing/inspection could be born by the individual(s) moving in and/or moving out......or perhaps the real estate people and/or property owners could take on the added expense and pass it on to their tenants/buyers. This sounds like a public health and welfare issue. Even new construction has the potential for contamination....and what about the solid waste and recycling personnel that are in close contact with potential contaminants. It seems to me that if testing is done at the very least when the property is vacated the offending person(s) could then be turned over to legal authorities and locked away from the general public.

Re: Repay the cost of freedom - Whidbey News Times

For an easy effective way to help go here...

http://10mc.org/?t=5606

Re: It takes war to end wars - Whidbey News Times

It is acceptable to "let the jets fly where they must".....it is not acceptable for them to fly wherever they like.

Re: Clover Valley could be magnet school - Whidbey News Times

There was a conscious move by the Oak Harbor school district in the mid 80's to manage the district as a business. Our children are viewed as money making machines that support the business organization (management, ceo, etc.). In order to be successful when dealing with the OHSD one must follow the money to understand "why" and be able to show profit based funding for the "what"................ in my opinion.
Good luck to all you special interests out there vying for CVE.

Congratulations Bill for scooping the WNT with your letter to the editor. ;)

Re: Clover Valley could be magnet school - Whidbey News Times

I am all in for public vetting BEFORE decisions are made. It would be interesting to compare just how much of that grant money is actually used by the home school community. My experience with the Oak Harbor school district is that they put things in place that qualify as the proverbial check box in order to get the grant money.....I do not think the school district does anything that they cannot realize a "profit".

Re: Planes need to stay in patterns - Whidbey News Times

Noise meters are now in use (just call me your local jet chaser). Up until I saw the public disclosure on these properties I had assumed that the county's noise zoning of ">84" was much lower than 111 decibels. My property was "grandfathered" (been inhabited since the 1800's and I have lived on this property since 1975). No one has informed me of the noise levels to which I was/am actually being exposed. In the 70's the Navy did not fly over my house or property....now they do (and there are more of them and yes, they are louder). I have also spent most of my childhood years in the Oak Harbor school system and the navy aircraft never flew over the town...they do now. FCLP's create a situation where the time of exposure exceeds safety levels. This is a country of free choice....I choose to wear ear protection (based on the current noise information I have stumbled upon).....you may make your own choices. I suspect you have the option of having your hearing problems addressed by the Veterans Administration....I do not.

Re: Planes need to stay in patterns - Whidbey News Times

....so what you are saying is that the public disclosure document is a lie?
I do hope the readers will check out all the links I have provided and come to their own conclusions instead of just your's and my banter.
