Note that when the Federal government refuses to enforce its own laws, then it is the DUTY of the "several states" to either enforce those laws or to create laws to cover the situation and handle it themselves.

Thus by the very fact that the federal government is NOT properly enforcing immigration law the federal government has abdicated responsibility and given it to the states.

There SHOULD be no NEED for a state or local level anti-immigration law.

All law enforcement personnel should be allowed to check immigration status on anyone they stop/arrest for any other issue.

For example:
Stop a driver for speeding and the officer is supposed to ask for licence and insurance. No papers = hold them until thier identity is checked. If the identity comes up illegal immigrant then haul them to jail and hold for ICE.

That should be the policy EVERYWHERE.

Illegal immigrants are breaking the law by definition.

If our immigration laws need reforem, that does NOT give foreigners the right to break them. US immigration law is more lenient than most other countries' laws.

Maybe we should reform our laws to match Mexico's if the illegals from Mexico don't like our laws. And to be consistant we should put them in prisons with the same conditions as they would find in Mexican prisons when we catch them.

Arizona has an estimated 400,000 illegal immigrants. If thats not an invasion, what does it take to be an invasion?

We have justification to send the troops from Ft Hood down to the border and secure it. It would be good training for the troops.

I noted today that Rush Limbaugh brought up the same problem.

If City/State police can't enforce immigratin law because its federal... they can't enforce any federal law.
If no state law can apply where there is a federal law, then most state laws are void.

Kidnapping
Drugs
Gun laws
Forgery
Bank robbery
Counterfeiting

and any other area where there is a federal law, all "lesser" levels would have to be voided and the local police would just have to ignore it.

Instant anarchy, since there's virtually no area of law that there is no federal statute to apply.

Voiding the Arizona law because it deamnds enforcement of federal law is... stupid. and will have severe negative repercussions nationwide.

Either City/county/State law enforcement officers are allowed to aid in
enforcing Federal law... or they are not.

Can a City level police oficer arrest a bank robber? There is a federal
law against robbing the bank. FBI is defined as the agency with authority
in a bank robbery.

Does this mean that no state or city can have a law against bank robbery?

Does this mean that the City's police have to ignore the robbery?

If the answer to any of the above is inconsistant with City/County/state law enforcement officers being prohibited from enforcing immigration law... EXPLAIN WHY.

You can't have it both ways.

Law enforcement officers can enforce ALL laws... or ONLY laws defined at
the level of thier authority.

Pick one.

Until the school boards and the federal Department of Education mandates are fixed... you can continue to expect most increases in school funding to go to administrators rather than to teachers.

You can thank the Teacher's unions for a lot of the problems. By protecting incompetents from being fired they are guaranteeing that no one wants to raise teacher's paychecks. Why raise the paychecks of the incompetents who deserve to be jobless?

There was mention of people ojn ships near the actual spill source getting sick from assorted vapor exposure. (methane, benzene and others)

since Benzene is one of the more volitile portions of crude... it tends to get airborne and disperse. By the time the oil has travelled to the shore most of the benzene is long gone.

We can't help it that you weren't paying attention...

Its a tactic used in most pollitical polls too. They word the questions such that they will always get the answer they want.

We don't need more ways to CATCH DUI drivers...The police do a pretty good job of catching them already.

What we need is for the DA's offices to quit letting them plea bargain to lesser offences and for judges to maximize sentencing for 2nd+ offenders.

The laws exist already to deal with the problem.

For example... my brother whas T-boned by a DUI driver who had 3 other DUI ARRESTS within the previous 6 months and plead down to lesser offenses for all of them. If the drunk had been handled properly by the courts he would have been behind bars instead of behind the wheel to hit my brother.

DUI should be automatic... no plea bargain for lesser offense and maximize the penalty.

I would even advocate El Salvadore's solution to DUI... if it would do any good.
1st offense = firing squad.
El Salvadore does not have a problem with DUI. They actually enforce thier law.
Our courts would never enforce it... they'd let all the drunk drivers plea to some misdemeanor.

There was a plan for a well "blow out"... it was called a blow out protection valve and one was installed on the Deepwater Horizon's well.

The engineering studies SAID the valve SHOULD have cut off the oil when the rig at the top lost control of the flow.

Something about the valve failed. It didn't close off the oil flow.

Water does some really strange stuff at extreme pressures...get the pressure high enough and the "state" of H2O is "undefined"... you can't tell by the temperature if you'll have a liquid, vapor or ice. The pressure in the well that blew out is higher than where water's "state" is not predictable.

Even at lower pressures you can get some strange results when dealing with water. We have FLYING particals of ice high in our atmosphere. We call them cirrus, cirrostratus, and cirrocumulus CLOUDS when they become dense enough to be visible.

One time we set up a Saturn 5 on the pad and tried to launch it we managed to blow it up along with a group of astronauts...
The Titanic... the unsinkable ship sank on its maiden voyage.
The Thresher, a multimillion dollar nuclear submarine sank below crush depth and imploded due to an engineering oversight... appx 120 men dead.
(we still don't know for sure what caused Scorpion to become a debris field on the bottom of the ocean... or maybe the Navy just isn't telling yet...)
We could list all kinds of failures, all of which taught us something.

The well Deepwater Horizon was working on was deeper under the water than normal and tapped a higher pressure pocket of oil than what was expected...
At lesser depth under the ocean the blowout protection valve may have handled the high pressure... it may not have...
If there was less pressure in the oil pocket that they had it then the valve PROBABLY would have worked just fine despite the depth under the water.

We will learn from this just as we learned from all the previous engineering/judgement errors.

Lessons learned typically have a price.
This one is expensive.

But its not very hard to be better than Rob Balen... Dead air would be better than Rob.

Why should they get rid of that several month old commercial when they still run Clark Howard segments (and others) from over a year ago?

They might actually have to play something up to date about ongoing events if they dump the ancient clips.

Illegal aliens should be deported.

The border should be secured vs the massive invasion of illegals.

People who hire illegals should be heavilly fined and or imprisoned.

Our immigration laws may need some reform... but remember that our immigration laws are some of the most lenient in the world.

As to if we should only buy stuff made in the USA... there's a lot of stuff that is not made in the US that I'm sure you don't want to do without.

What has harmed productivity in the US the most is... Unions constantly demanding higher pay for less work.

What did the most damage to our economy in the last 10 years was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac demanding that banks give loans to people who couldn't afford to make the payments.
Thank Barny Frank and other scammers/scum in congress (primarilly Democrats, but a lot of Republicans lined thier pockets too) .
