Glad I came here - I was wondering the same exact thing. I've got FaceBook Connect working w/ Disqus on my blogs, and started posting my own comments, and comment replies via my FaceBook connect login, and it doesn't show up in my News Feed.

Also - is it possible to somehow link our FB Connect to our Disqus account so that comments we post via FB Connect contribute to our overall comment count in our DisQus profile?

WELCOME! I'm so glad you checked in. And awesome to be from Germany.

As you may know, I tried IntenseDebate for over a month, and it was a disaster. The comments never synced as promised, ID support has been quite lacking in fixing it, their old legacy plugin won't work to export, etc. I loved the way ID worked, but I can't trust it when comments won't sync.

I finally caved in and de-activated, and as a result, lost nearly 90% of my comments. That's why I chose DisQus.

I de-activated Disqus yesterday to see if my comments disappeared, and they were all right here as they are supposed to be.

Either way - I'M JUST GLAD YOU ARE HERE! Thanks for checking in.

Hey, so far so good - I saw the news about the ID plugins. They could make the moon, but if the comments won't sync back to my server (for whatever reason), it is no good for me.

Now I have questinos about Disqus, such as:
Where is the option for you folks to subscribe to comments via email? The "options" button above only offers a "subscribe to this thread" RSS link.

Any clue?

Yes, yes ... I look forward to it as well! I think we have to remember, also, it doesn't have to be big or extravagant, it can be a simple tradition - but putting 100% into it and keeping it consistent is the key, I'd say. I'm not a pro. Hope to become one.

Chiming in here - I tried IntenseDebate, and would've kept that platform, but we had syncing issues. But at least IntenseDebate had the ability for commentors to subscribe to comments via email. so many people in this thread think we are asking for "email notification" when someone comments on OUR blog, or to reply via email to make a comment on our OWN blog.

No - we are wanting the PEOPLE who LEAVE A COMMENT to have the option to get EMAIL everytime somebody else posts a comment on that same blog.

Artie, that sounds really cool ... I'm glad to know your church and their leadership is cool w/ changing things up to reach the community ... so many churches refuse to change ANYTHING. Kudos!

Kyle, that's one of my victories too - we saw probably 50+ people commit to Christ in February ... and at least 20+ who came forward for more info, discipleship, etc.

Awesome reply - I wasn't wanting everyone to take everything in that article at face value. I *DO* see a lot of what he refers to in the quote above, though. I'm seeing it, especially, in our worship, though I'm seeing a trend of worship songs and lyrics that are going deeper in theology and doctrine.

I believe God is changing, moving, and doing something great - but I do think that some of the things in this article are true, warning signs - I see them ... a lot. I wrestle them, to some degree, even in my own life and church.

Do I think the church will fail? Nope - it never has, and I've read the end of the Book.
