(Start here)

A hand on your shoulder.

(Years ago when I had to make a "public" announcement of breast cancer you posted that, and I felt it. I saw you use those simple words again with others and that felt good too. Took a good deep breath. Just one of those little ways in which you have been the teacher over the years. The beams topic on the WELL is overflowing for you today, too. I'm sure that in its curious and powerful tradition, it's shining through to you and Judy. Best journey and outcome to you, Howard. )

Re: http://www.well.com/~gail/now/

posting this time from http://gailswellpage.disqus...

will that work?

Re: http://www.well.com/~gail/now/

Everything with a grain of salt!

Re: Attention Implosion

Nicely stated. I find that if I try to be present with my distributed "imaginary" pals when in a physical group gathering, I can disrespect those I know who physically near, and I fail to properly meet new people. Being too online makes me distracted, absent minded, aloof, cold, inappropriate. It's a problem of attention dilution, in my way of experiencing it. Attention is much more valuable when it is not dilute, when it is focused and keen.

Finding the balance is very important. Thanks for the post.

Re: open:animal [Building Web 2.0 Reputation Systems]

Randy, how about Jungle Fowl!

http://media-2.web.britanni...

Gallus gallus, ancestor of the very social, intelligent, verbal and rank-obsessed domestic chicken. The psych professionals don't want that to be true, but you sure see people report varying results a lot if you poke around.

That said, i support you for judge, any time you like.
