Keine Ahnung, für mich wäre es auf alle Fälle vorstellbar, dass es verboten ist, aber eben gefunden habe ich nichts.

Wieso sollte es verboten sein - verschlüsselung ist in der schweiz ja auch erlaubt.

It depends on your point of view: C/C++ might be a little tricky to learn but they are so powerful that you can almost do everything.
But it's true that C/C++ are very old and they do not change that must (as you can see: it takes like forever to release a new standard).

Maybe there is a place for every programming language, even Brainfuck :-)

Why not? I think there's lots of space for new languages in this area. Most new languages are based on 'heavy' virtual-machine infrastructure.
But for system-programming, small-devices etc such languages aren't the best choise and your stuck with C / C++. But C/C++ are really old and pain to use.

This doen't work, because the -C option must the the last argument. Somehow this just doesn't work for me. For most people

gzip -cd /some/dir/something.tar.gz | tar -xvf - -C /specific/directory

does work.

tar -xz -C /specific/directory -f /some/dir/something.tar.gz
