Jaffna boys would always click together and often referred to the Estate Tamils
as " Sakkiliyas" ( local term for Lavotary coolies). Ironic isnt it?

When I was a planter in Sri-lanka in the 60s and 70s - the Jaffna Tamils did not
care one bit for the Indian Tamils who worked on the Tea Estates. The Jaffna Tamils in fact considered the Indian Tamils inferior and looked down on them. They would never agree to inter-marriages between the two communities. So
really Tamil Nadu has moral obligation to LTTE. Dont be missled by the LTTE propoganda machine that is trying to curry favour with people of Tamil Nadu -
It is laughable to me how the Jaffna Tamil who once scorned the Estate Tamils
are now claiming ethnic links with them.

A German theologian, Martin Niem”ller in his youth was an admirer of Hitler. However, he later realized Nazism was just about killing anyone with an alternate point of view. Niem”ller spoke out, and was very nearly executed. While incarcerated, Niem”ller wrote a poem that will awaken the soul within you: "First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

So my message to Indians is simply walk the walk you talk instead of side-stepping the Tamil issue in Sri Lanka especially when the evidence is overwhelming that Indian government is right behind Sri Lankan government with respect to ethnic cleansing.

Yes, Congress has been in power for most of the years. My take on congress good times were only till Indira Gandhi. After that Congress had not one Dynamic leaders in them. It is all a group of people's decision. Remember it is the Individual only with visions can do a change, not a group. So no to congress anymore. Narendra Modi, is one leader who stands lot out of the crowd as an individual. I only wish BJP comes but not with their hard core Hinduism formula and rulers. We need safety from raising Taliban in our neighboring country. Congress showed its weakness once. re-electing congress will only be foolishness of the people, an invitation to their life threat.

Both issues (TN issues, SL issues) are important.
The Sri Lanka issue will have considerable impact on stability in TN (nay all of India) for many years to come. It is in India's own interest to enforce a ceasefire and a negotiated settlement.
The LTTE is terrible, but Rajapakse is no better; so arming the latter against the former (as Delhi is doing) is very short-sighted.

Thats really a smart way to use your voting rights.

after all decision should be made by vote and not by pressure.
i must say that india should provide a negative voting facility too.

also do take a step to sign the petition so as to raise the voice of indian votters.
We often loose 20% votes because of long voting ques or inconvinice schedule for votters.
