It's given me some great suggestions on new TV shows to check out like Mr. Robot or a movie to watch called The Man Who Knew Infinity. Both of which, I still need to check out.

Re: What You Need to Know to Launch a Successful Podcast

I highly recommend when starting off that you interview guests on your show that already have an audience. This will help bring credibility to your podcast and bring the possibility to have some of your guests' audience become subscribers to your podcast.

Re: Analyzing Your Content With Google Analytics: How to Know What Works

If you're referring to how he's capturing his screen, there are both paid and free screen recording solutions out there. When he starts barking, you can correct him without any sound. The brain needs to be snapped out of its current state and by you remaining calm throughout this exercise, you can redirect the dog's behavior, but only with practice will it improve, and most importantly...you have to remain calm and feel that what you're expecting to happen will happen to transfer that energy to your dog. Dog's have the ability to learn. However, if you're in a nervous state of mind and you always have that feeling that he's going to bark, you're going to transfer that energy to him. Cesar has said that there's no need to use sound and by telling him to "hush", that's going to create the exact opposite behavior you want. Telling the dog to "hush" doesn't mean anything to them and when they are in that panic state of mind, they won't hear you. All they're doing is associating your frustration with their frustration and thus mimicking your state of mind. Also, consider how everyone is feeling when your husband enters the room. Is your husband entering in an excited manner or calm manner? Using the leash is a great tool for redirecting and removing unwanted behavior. Just don't tense up on the leash and only use a correction when the dog starts the unwanted behavior. Once the barking stops, you remove any tension from the leash so the dog learns that how they're currently behaving is what you want. Hope it all works out for you.

Re: 7 Surprising Reasons That Reddit Is A Waste Of Time

Well said! I was watching an old episode of Smackdown on the WWE Network, when Smackdown was a relevant show and when the WWE had two impactful shows to tune into. Now Smackdown is irrelevant and RAW is beyond awful and boring. However, back to my original point, while watching this old episode of Smackdown, the very first match was between the Dudley Boys and the Hardy Boys. For something that took place about 15 years ago and to see the story they told in the ring and how everything they did had a purpose...they had me caring about the match. I was entertained. Now, I don't see any of that. There's not one wrestler I care about on that roster...not one. It's a shame it's come down to this, but I truly believe Vince needs another product to compete with him at some level to initiate or I should rather say force him to make a more compelling TV show. For someone who is 26 years old and has been watching wrestling since I was 8, I feel like I'll never see entertaining wrestling again. CM Punk was for me a flash from the past and when he left, it certainly seem to hurt WWE. They just seem like they can't recover. One guy isn't going to change the business, but they need more people from creative to care, the talent to stand out and not be predictable, but most importantly, Vince McMahon needs to care.

Re: 200 Episodes of #AskPat Later: Revenue and My Top 5 All-Time Favorites!

Glad to help, Warren! My personal opinion is that neither is wrong, but personal preference. Some recommend a media hosting service because they specialize in that field. However, sometimes people can forget that not everyone can afford two separate hosting accounts. I have not had a problem with the way I do things and have recently upgraded my server as well. A dedicated server is a very effective solution as you mentioned interest in doing. I have spoken with my hosting company before about uploading media and any issues with that and I have not had any problems reported. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How to Start a Podcast: Pat’s Complete Step-By-Step Podcasting Tutorial

Products like the Yeti made by Blue Microphones are good products. I've used their Blue snowflake and it still provides solid quality at more of an intermediate level. When you want to move to a more professional level, I'd either recommend going with a Heil microphone, which requires a mixer...or to say yourself time, what I do is use a $100 USB microphone, the Audio Technica AT2020 USB Microphone. I still use it to this day and it's phenomenal.

Re: How to Start a Podcast: Pat’s Complete Step-By-Step Podcasting Tutorial

The best way to address the excess noise is to record audio on separate tracks when podcasting with a guest. These platforms have the most engaged users and these platforms are how the majority of listeners are consuming podcasts. Since most people either have an iPhone or Android device, the utilization of Blackberry and Zune are outdated and will not provide you the same potential user base to reach as the mainstream options I listed. What platforms have you submitted your podcast to thus far?

Re: How to Start a Podcast: Pat’s Complete Step-By-Step Podcasting Tutorial

Most people do create their show notes themselves. There are some who do have their podcast episodes transcribed, but most require money. Was this something you were willing to spend a little money on? If you prefer to do it yourself, what I do is I listed back to each episode I record and write down the bullet points on each topic covered so I can just use that as my show notes and this makes things a lot easier. Does that answer your question? If not, just let me know :-)

Re: How to Start a Podcast: Pat’s Complete Step-By-Step Podcasting Tutorial

Hey Larry,

For recording my podcast I use an Audio Technica AT2020 USB microhone. Are you referring to the WordPress plugin? Is your site over HTTPS?

I personally host my podcast with my hosting provider, but I have heard great things about Libsyn too. I would make Soundcloud as secondary for sure.

For your second question, yes, you would need to upload episodes manually. iTunes reads the RSS feed to update automatically. However, it seems like your Soundcloud feed is on iTunes and in order for iTunes to know a new episode exists, you would havd to upload the episode to Soundcloud so that when iTunes hits your feed they will know to update it. You can have multiple feeds in iTunes, but if you don't want duplicates, you will want to remove the old feed.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

-Frank

Re: How to Start a Podcast: Pat’s Complete Step-By-Step Podcasting Tutorial

Can you send me an email to frank@socialtechzone.com, please? The first question I have is, is your site currently running on WordPress? I see your podcast episodes are a list of links which link off to posts with your show notes. From what I understand, you would like what Pat has where there's a post preview, with the opportunity to click through to view the show notes, correct?

I've created custom page templates within WordPress before and it is technical and I wasn't sure if you were familiar with coding, so I wanted to check with you on that too.

Once I receive your responses on those questions, I'll be better able to direct you down the right path that works for your current situation.

Re: Niche Site UPGRADE: Security Guard Training Headquarters

When it comes to spacing around the ad, you will want to use padding, not margin. The post itself doesn't have to be long, but does need the link to your MP3 file included using a plugin like the free Blubrry Podcasting Plugin. The reason you need to publish a post each time you release an episode is because iTunes for example reads the audio file via an RSS feed which it pulls from your blog. To create that RSS feed most people use Feedburner, which I use as well.
