If we do take Lidge out of the role, then I have one question for you, Foley: who do we put in the closer role? You specifically said "Not Madson," which I agree with. I also agree that Myers could work in the role, but he has to come back first. So, until Myers is fully healthy, who is our closer?

People probably think I'm crazy for this, but this is my take on Cole: last season, regular season and playoffs combined, Cole pitched a combined 262.1 innings. He only threw 183.1 the season before. Why is it impossible that his arm is just tired from throwing significantly more innings from one year to the next? It's been proven that in seasons where a pitcher throws fewer than 200 innings and much more than 200 the next, the third season is often less successful and more injury-plagued.
I don't know, that's just my theory. But I'd like to go to bed, so that I can get up a reasonable hour and discuss this more tomorrow.

I remember how rarely they used Taguchi because they realized that he wasn't good... why can't they do the same with Brunt?

So Taguchi? Ricky Ledee? The list goes on and on... Hell, the hated ADAM EATON contributed to this team more, simply because he actually helped us win games!

Besides Bruntlett being the only back-up SS and playing the infield, how is he any better than Mayberry? Only one of those guys has homered this season... Care to guess who?
