How taking the later path is an attack on the app store is unclear to me.

Re: Is Apple Delaying the Release of iPhone 5?

Tech pundits presume that there is no new hardware announcements. The future of iOS and MacOS could very well include new hardware, and surely will. One simple way to "expand" the number of characters used in a Tweet, is to ignore twitter addresses or aliases as part of the message. By simply starting a reply to @rww, you've used up 4 characters! I never understood why this is.

Re: Apple’s New Subscription Model & What it Means for Publishers

Funny how no one had a problem with Apple hosting & distributing their apps for free all this time, but they cry foul when they're asked to subsidize that distribution platform for them.

Re: Google Announces New Payment System for Digital Publishers

You gotta love the last paragraph found on the One Pass home page.

"Google One Pass operates across multiple sites, so you can easily manage content across all of your online properties. Apple has played no role in marketing the Netflix service or the Kindle service. So the assumption is false and Apple just looks greedy for making this policy.

Re: Instagram Releases API to Expand Beyond iPhone

The iPhone is a niche product??

Re: Android Is Now the Most Popular Smartphone Platform [REPORT]

Android isn't a fraud. But their spin on being "open" is a bit stretched. I always felt it was a just marketing speak, and learned that it's just that after getting an Android -powered phone for Christmas. I quickly learned that to do whatever I wanted to and with the phone, I had to root it. (A.K.A Jailbreak for iOS.)

And to root it I have to be certain that's it a method that will be accepted by the specific device being rooted. I'm a geek -- or I thought I was -- but when I was faced with the task of rooting, I gave up. I was too afraid of bricking my phone to go forward.

Android is a good platform and the better the hardware, the better it's performance. But's it "open" speak is just not an accurate portrayal of what you will encounter.

Re: Android Is Now the Most Popular Smartphone Platform [REPORT]

Agreed. Comparing raw numbers from one platform to another, across all phone handsets, Android is way ahead. But you have to sit back and admit that one phone, from one source -- Apple's iOS on iPhone -- has sold 16 million units. That's an amazing achievement.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Player to Challenge iPod Touch [REPORT]

iTunes is hated on so my by tech snobs. That's because the display on the current iPod touch is NOT the same retina display on the iPhone. Putting them side-by-side makes the point very clear. So to your question: in this example - iPod to Samsung media players - the answer is no.

Re: Yahoo Just Killed… Consumer Confidence In Them

What the FUCK does this have to do with Apple. I held on to my Yahoo (paid) account that I've had since Al Gore invented the information super highway. (I got crap emails going back to 1997 on there.) But this Delicious business has crumbled my confidence in Yahoo.

As MG writes, Flickr has a much of place at Yahoo as does Delicious. They are killing Yahoo Buzz. Why wouldn't Buzz fit in. stanleygriggs states it best: Yahoo needs to find a seller for Yahoo.

Re: Gmail Lite: If You Build It Google, We Will Come

Facebook as text messaging?
