I think insomuch that Canadian companies do business in the US market, their businesses become impacted by US policies toward marijuana. So, no, they are not insulated from negative US policies unfortunately.

Re: This is the Correction We've Been Waiting On - FaithMightFX

Given price action during the European open, it would be these 1.2880 highs but with cable trading above the resistance level now, is it even a short anymore?
I'll admit that my short was stopped out overnight...

Re: What's The Deal With Bonds - FaithMightFX

Ah good points! Plus, you don't truly enjoy the coupon as that'll get reinvested in mutual fund. Thanks for the food for thought. Can I ask you which institution you like best to purchase individual bonds?

Re: What's The Deal With Bonds - FaithMightFX

I couldn’t agree MOAR about owning bond ETFs in terms of buying them to truly hold bonds. A mutual fund or actual bonds (go figure!) is better. I like to use the ETFs as a proxy for pricing but that’s about it. The volatility involved kind of defeats the purpose of the high duration.

Re: Remember, The Euro Is a Safe Haven

Yes, if this consolidation can unfold quickly. However, it looks like we have more to go before buyers step in. A lot will depend on how the market reacts to the ECB now since 0.7940 didn't hold as support today.

Re: Pay Attention to Risk - FaithMightFX

Great points on GBP. While I agree, I think USD is running this show for now. When a currency can't rally on good news, I'm always suspect. USD hasn't been able to for past 2 weeks. If she can't go down, up is the only other option. It's sustainability, of course, is a whole other issue. Might be great opportunity for GBP bears unless USD gets hit really hard. That remains to be seen.

I think the points you make about the GBP will play out more so in the crosses. Already today we see $EURGBP rallying and $GBPNZD unable to regain the 2.00 level. $GBPJPY continues to grind lower. Still waiting for the week close, but you're right, GBP in big trouble. However, the better play is on the crosses rather than cable for the moment.

Re: Confessions of a Forex Trader - I HATE Changing Brokers - FaithMightFX

I like this. Most likely they are looking at an order book and know that there are a million orders there. If you're one of them, tough luck.."

I think that is the premise, however, I don't think it that absurd a notion that there are some algos out there that do hunt stops using said order book. Avoiding that malaise altogether by not even being in the order book is more the notion I took away from her remarks. As you have stated, the breakouts in these markets have been fickle at best. And I couldn't agree with you more that we require a little more sophistication in setting our stops. Perhaps conditional stops is a better term for it. I like that!

Re: Mystery Chart: What Do We Do Here? - All Star Charts with JC Parets

Looks like a bull flag. It takes many years to be a successful trader. It will also cost you money as you take many losses in the market. However, if you enjoy trading and have a trading system that works, you just have to trade through the losses. You can only gain experience and understanding by trading so you begin to understand your own psychology and weaknesses so that you can gain a winning combination. Also, learn from every trader you can regardless of the market they trade. StockTwits is a great place to find the best traders in the world. Forex is a very hard way to earn a living. If you want it, you will have to work very, very, very hard for it.

Re: This move in Facebook is just the start – Steiman

Agreed

Re: How Do You Know When a Stock Is Broken?

Great guidelines here for both techies and fundies.
