For example, Brazil is largely Catholic but it's clearly on the rise in terms of economic development.

I think it's more a matter of enforcing the right policies and programs that will address the problems of a country. For example, corruption is big in the Philippines because of weaknesses in the state institutions. Even the basic exercise of democracy--elections--has been hijacked by corrupt elements that seek to preserve power through election-related cheating and violence. Reforms would reduce the incidence of corruption, but clearly the majority of the power elite (who craft and pass bills into laws) will not favor such reforms.

Poverty is the result of the lack of access to basic services like education, healthcare, jobs, food and water security. All this is related to bad programs and policies, as well as bad governance.

So Catholicism is not the cause of poverty. It's just a striking coincidence.

Re: FreestyleAnalog

I never know what to blog about too. Interesting concept Miko! I've been told Tumblr is the death of writing in blogs. A blogazine might just change that perception :D

Re: Formspring Replies

I've been asking you when we can go jamming kaya!

Re: Cess and the City

I broke the daily ban.
