Feel free to take my words and act like you don't understand the analogy. You might not like my final line of my previous post; that's fair. If you would like to take it literally, then yes, you are correct...the LOTG do not state a six month ban for trash talk, but look at the last decade. Trashing a Teamate and coach for not playing her in 2007. The whole world knew it was the wrong coaching call, but no need to say it. Domestic Violence charges (unresolved from 2014). Let us totally disregard that this would have made her most likely ineligible for the last World Cup had she been male. The incident involving her boyfriend getting a DUI while driving a team van last yeat. Countless vulgar/distasteful rants and tweets including her treatment of the police officer on the night she was arrested (if you haven't heard it, go listen, it's genuinely horrible), and on top of everything else, has never once showed an ounce of sympathy for her actions.
Yes, her on-field have put her right at the top of greatest goalies of all time, but that is the only reason the USSF have tolerated her antics. She is not a role model (other than maybe how she plays her position). Once again, she is 35 years old, her behavior is what they expect from rookies.
My final point; has it occurred to you that maybe her team doesn't want her? Yes, she is an unbelievable goalie, but she is past her prime, there are other capable replacements, and maybe she is just as unbearable to play with as she is to listen to...

Re: Hope Solo Suspended From National Team for 6 Months

First off, lets keep in mind when judging Hope Solo's actions that she is a 35 year old woman, not a rookie.

In Soccer, the Laws of the Game state that somebody can get a yellow card for persistent infringement (multiple/several, different fouls). Frequently, the final foul that draws the yellow card is not the most serious offense, but often that player had been warned that their next foul, they would be going in the book. The situation regarding Hope Solo's suspension is no different. Yes, I realize how from a distant view receiving a six-month suspension for calling Sweden "cowards" would seem excessive. However, this was just the final straw in a series of poor decisions (over the past decade) for which she now has to pay the price. It's the Laws of the Game.
